Informative Essay: The Benefits Of Volunteering Home

I have been bringing kids here to volunteer for 13 or 14 years, and we come 3 to 4 times a year. I think it is really important for kids to have volunteer experience and I like coming here because the food stays within our community, within the metro area. The kids really like coming because they think it is really neat how we can just work 3 hours and can provide so many meals for kids and their families in just a short amount of time and its fun. All of the people here are really fun to work with. It’s just a really fun environment. My kids beg to come and volunteer. They really, really enjoy coming here. It is cool in how just a short amount of time you can make a big difference fighting hunger. By coming here they learn that it is fun to
Not that it wasn’t inviting before, but with the volunteer center, the fun bright colors, and extra stations for people to work at its just inviting. I feel like I am coming home because we have been coming for so long. It’s bigger and you guys are getting a lot more food come through here because you guys put it to good use. The frozen food is my least favorite you guys have got to get rid of the frozen food. Those giant bins of frozen food and you get the pitch fork and break it apart. Every time we come we all pray on the way up here no frozen food. Honestly though hands down, our favorite is doing the backpacks for kids. My kids like doing that because it’s kids their age that are getting those backpacks. They always ask are we going to do the backpacks for kids and I tell them we won’t know until we get there. So, that by far is our favorite I think. Also, we were here one year right after a tornado and we were doing emergency kits for the tornado victims and that was good too because we knew they were going right here in the metro area. You guys rock! I would say to others ‘are you looking for a place to volunteer and do some community work with your group of kiddos’ then go to the Food
