“Bullied” Documentary
(Topic Sentence) Bullying is a widespread problem that is often not addressed by schools. (Background Information) During his years attending his local middle and high schools in a small town of Wisconsin, Jamie Nabozny was bullied relentlessly for his sexual orientation. He attempted suicide multiple times and ran away, away from his tormentors, away from his school who did nothing to stop the bullying and were deaf to his and his family's pleads to do something, anything, about the bullying. (Attention Grabbing Solution) Is this really how the people running our schools should act when faced with such a severe problem? With help from family and friends, Jamie decides to sue the school and brings a often shoved under the rug problem to the limelight, proving that with courage and determination, you can make things right. (Elaboration of Point and Evidence) His tormentors utilized physical violence and verbal jibes, making Nabozny feel unsafe in his school and dread going to school. Jamie was tripped, shoved into lockers and used as target practice for his tormentors, on a daily basis.
