Veterans’ psychiatric diagnoses includes, but not limited to: Co- morbid conditions, Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Suicidal ideation (SI), Depression, Bipolar, Substance Abuse, Schizophrenia, and other psychosocial and medical conditions from a diverse veterans’ population. Ms. Greene utilizes nursing knowledge and complex nursing judgment to assess health needs and provide care.
She advises, educates and support veterans to manage their health care while they are hospitalize in anticipation of their discharged. Ms. Greene works in collaboration with other health professionals, perform general nursing functions, and when working as the charge nurse supervisors 14 staff members on a Mental Health Care Inpatient Unit caring for 35 veterans which is soon increase to 40 veterans. Ms. Greene utilizes nursing journals, and the internet to stay current with changes within the mental health behavioral health science scope of practice. Ms. Greene encourages and practice good hand washing hygiene to prevent spread of disease amongst staff and patients and has discouraged the use of hand sanitizers which contains alcohol and is a trigger for some veterans’ diagnosis with alcohol dependency.
