What is the logic for an integrated approach? Why is it recommended (3 pts)? An integrated approach is an effort to keep the class as unified as possible throughout the year. Although there are spaces for the children to go when extra help is needed, the goal of an integrated approach is to have as many kids in the regular classroom setting as possible. The integrated response is important for a least restrictive environment for all students. RTI’s three tier layers provide support to the children before a referral to special education, to ensure that they are in the least restrictive environment. A least restrictive environment is recommended because it is imperative to the students education because it is a vital …show more content…
component in the social development of the child.
Why is RtI referred to as a systems approach to educational services (2 pts)? A Response to Intervention is referred to as a system because of the various steps that must be completed before the end.
Unmet Need : An outlier of the group
Referral Form : If the problem is too much for the educator to handle, the teacher will refer the student to a team, team may include nurses, school guidance counselors, other class teachers, parents, student, etc.
Test: IQ Tests, Achievement Tests, “Other”(Auditory tests, Autism tests, Vision tests, etc)
Team: Only relevant individuals are at this meeting, the job is to determine if there is a disability, and if they are eligible.
IF ELIGIBLE : An IEP, 504 Plan, etc is issued
IF NOT : Maybe needs Migrant Ed, ELL, RR, Title 1, etc
Why are evidence-based practices important to educators and students (3 pts)? An evidence based practice is evidence through five to six empirical studies showing that it works. Evidence based practices are important to the educators because the educators are positive that the lessons are proven to be beneficial for the child. In addition, the educator is able to explain to a parent, student, or administrator why the practice is constructive. An evidence based practice is important to the students because they are getting the most out of the practice. Rather than looking at random searching on the internet and pinterest, the evidence based practices are proven to be profitable to the
students.
Describe one way that data is used in the RTI framework (2 pts)? One way that data is used in the RTI framework is during the “test” portion of the system. At this point, the outcome (data) of the test determines where to go with the student from there. For example, if the data leads to determine a disability, then the student will receive an IEP or a 504 Plan. If the data does not lead to a disability, then Migrant Ed, ELL, RR, Title 1, etc will be considered.
What is fidelity and why does it matter (2 pts)? Fidelity is the degree to which you implement a practice as its designed. Fidelity should be sustained throughout the year to ensure that the students are receiving the highest of lessons through the educators. Fidelity will allow for the appropriate lessons to be taught as it is supposed to be designed.
How does classroom management fit into the RTI model? How does it contribute to the prevention-oriented educational practices (3 pts)? Classroom management fit into the RTI model because classroom management is the balance between academics and behaviors in the classroom. All of the components of classroom management focus on academics and behaviors in the classroom. Furthermore, the Response to Intervention model is half academic and half behavioral. How the classroom is managed directly related to the RTI because the students who are in the 80% must have a different plan of management than the other 20% of the classroom. The RTI model allows for the teacher to prepare for the students who do not get the material right away, and to have a plan for classroom management to rely on when that does happen.
