Interpersonal Communication Reflection
Throughout this year, I have worked to further my spanish vocabulary so I am able to communicate better with those of Spanish heritage. It is obvious that through the year I have improved in all aspects of my Spanish vocabulary and usage. Even with the questions moving from English to Spanish, I was able to make this transition smoothly with the help of my Spanish teachers. These projects progressively got more difficult, and with them, my skills progressed. My Spanish speaking is not the best, but it has improved significantly throughout this course. In the interpersonal communication module I chose, I was instructed to introduce myself and give general information about myself. I was able to successfully write and record a minute worth …show more content…
Upon receiving a good grade, I was able to learn how to compare and contrast two things in Spanish. In the future, I will be able to compare things using Spanish in the classroom setting or if I visit a Spanish speaking country. Also, if I ever have to go to an emergency room in another country, I will know what to expect upon arrival. In the presentational speaking module I chose, I was instructed to give my opinion on the art and music classes in the schooling system. In this project I wrote about how I feel about the arts in the schooling system and how they are just as important as the math and sciences. I can use these skills learned to argue my opinion in the future. For the interpretive listening module, I was instructed to watch a video about a singer canceling his concert and the audiences reactions. I received a good grade on this assignment which shows that I can watch a video and understand what is happening in it. It was difficult to understand the language being spoken at full speed, but I was able to understand it enough to write the response. This assignment was good practice for the future when I will have to associate with people speaking at a faster pace than I am comfortable with. Overall, I have become a well rounded Spanish speaking student that can listen to, speak, and write Spanish

One change I would make with my self-perception would be the way I see same-sex attraction because it has little to do with my sexuality, but a lot to do with my self-image and self-worth since I am gay. I have always noticed most of us guys who are gay and or experience same-sex attraction have good self-images; and we get along well in life. But I have to say that I have low feelings of self-worth; because my gut-level feelings tell me they are not worth much. So I do believe that can change my self-image or not, I see so many people who feels it is not right when they find out that I am gay. This is my self-image that establishes…

Introduction In this report, I will be evaluating the Communication and Values which I used during my two day placement. For my placement, I worked with individuals with specific needs in a PMLD unit (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties)-although I mainly came across service users with Cerebral Palsy. The service user’s ages ranged from eighteen to late twenties although I was informed by a carer at the unit that the services users’ mental capabilities ranged from 1-9 years old.…

In the end, after intense deliberation, I decided to challenge myself—albeit reluctantly—and take AP Spanish. There were hundreds of moments when I doubted my decision: when I wrote it on my schedule form and handed it to my teacher to sign; when I was handed the summer work packet; when I stepped in class the first day and didn’t hear a single syllable of English; when I was assigned a two-minute presentation the very next day. The list could go on and on; I doubted myself every day in that class and always wondered whether I had made the right…

The exercise was designed so that students were exposed to multiple forms of literacy, including visual, audio, and text, and to use interpretive skills to gain a deeper understanding behind songs. Multiple literacies were combined at different times so that students could understand how literacies work together to provide more information or direct a specific view. In example, “Nothin’ on You” could have been a song…

I selected Spanish out of the three choices: Spanish, French, and Cantonese; because there are many Spanish-speaking people in my town which made it useful. Taking Spanish at a college was a new and challenging experience. As my first time taking a college level class, I did not know what to expect. I entered into the classroom with sweaty palms and high alertness on the first day knowing that I was taking a rigorous class. My mind was racing with fearful scenarios of how the class might turn out, but the lectures on the history of Spanish-speaking countries, the Spanish soap operas, and Spanish karaoke made it surprisingly enjoyable. Throughout three years of Spanish classes, I had the opportunity to comfortably present in classes by the improvement of my communication skills. Most importantly, Spanish sparked an eagerness to learn about different cultures and languages, being encouraged to expand my knowledge on cultures aside from my own. Prior to developing a language skill, my fascination for other cultures was minor, but after uncovering the amazing things about humanity, I yearned to learn more. From this point forward, I will carry my profound love for the Spanish culture and…

In Mr. Rodriguez's Spanish 1-2 class, we have learned so many new things and have had the amazing opportunity to gain more fluency in another language. Some of the goals we had in the beginning of the term were to learn the appropriate level of Spanish, for example more knowledge of verbs, and how to say basic conversations and greetings. We were expected to have learned everything we were taught, and the basic part of the Spanish language. Mr. Macfarland was our Spanish teacher, and his techniques were that we did our homework in homework packets, and we would sing our vocabulary, which benefited us and helped us memorize it in an easier way. When we took test, quizzes and answered questions aloud, he could judge if we were learning or not by the answers we would give, or the grades we would receive.…
