Looking back over the course of the semester, how would you say you have grown?…
I can really say that I am proud of my accomplishments. Seeing the A made me feel elated. Nevertheless, more than the grade, I am more proud of the learning I achieved during this semester. And truth is told, I have truly learned a lot in this course like the importance of the creativity of an individual in this competitive globe and the courage to ask questions when you are in doubt.…
4. What do you feel is your most significant accomplishment? My most significant accomplishment is stepping out of my comfort zone freshman year and joining the Forensics team. I no longer have a fear of public speaking in front of people whom I don't know.…
The first would be my administrative tasks as a Resident Assistant. I consistently turned in papers, forms, and completed task on time or before the deadline. This also included emailing and updating my supervisor about any resident conflicts or situations that occurred. I feel that this is an accomplishment because I was able to keep the line of communication open to my supervisor and ensured that all information was given in a timely manner. Another accomplishment I achieved over the past semester was being flexible to my other Resident Assistants. There were many times when last minute another Resident Assistant needed to switch duty days or had an emergency situation and I was able to cover for them. For example, during the semester one Resident Assistant needed to go to the hospital last minute and needed someone to cover. Despite it being last minute and on a Friday night, I was able to take the duty day. This is an accomplishment because I felt like I was a vital member of the team and that people could rely on me to step up to the plate when need…
Reflection allows an individual to identify the reasons or purpose of understanding the outcome of a particular situation in depth in term of emotions on thought and feeling on the topic area. In addition, Reflection is something that we do implicitly as part of being human, underpinning our identities through a process of negotiation between our sense of self and our experiences of others (Demetriou, 2000, p.210). Therefore, I have implemented this quote in my professional and personal goals I wanted and have achieved thought-out the process of the module. I have made continues effort in building my confidence in situations that I have felt uncomfortable in.…
I learned a lot about myself while doing this project. The greatest thing I learned was that I have chosen the perfect occupation. I love history and I believe my passion for history will help me instill a love for history within my students also. Getting to share part of my Native American Unit with one of Mr. Davis’ class, has given me so much more confidence in myself.…
Two Spanish educators, and an assigned substitute had thrown the towel in on this group of students before October’s fall semester, they deemed them a lost cause. With limited materials, and a lack of administrative support, I too was expected to be the fourth adult to fail them just as the system has for so long. Though I had no education or language experience, converting course with a language lab and my creatively integrating the arts made an innovative and engaging classroom, I am pleased to say I successfully completed the academic year with my Spanish 1 students with a 94% pass rate! I reflect back to this moment when I thought my place was to impact the classroom when actual development was needed in the hands of policy makers and organizational leaders. Through this experience I knew that I was the change I needed to see in my school system, and through Tufts I will to be molded into the leader that prevents such experience from other educators and leaders in the…
During the third week, after I had exhausted all of my ideas, I resorted to a game that my Spanish teacher had used. A leader yells out commands in Spanish and the students act out the commands. When I asked Andrew to be the leader, I found the miracle that I had been seeking. He thought it was great that he could order the teacher around with commands such as "jump in place" and "touch the window." I told him that if he asked me in Spanish to do something, I would do it as long as he would do the same. With this agreement, I could teach him new words outside the classroom, and he could make his teacher hop on one foot in front of his friends. Andrew eventually gained a firm grasp of Latin.…
Although my household is Spanish speaking, my parents were not able to get an advanced educations so as to teach me how to properly write in Spanish. So when we began working on this project, I was incredibly self conscious and afraid that it would not be as great as my other writing. It’s incredibly obvious when I write in Spanish that my dominant tongue is English. But to my surprise, my teacher was actually very impressed in how I did on the project. It was of course not perfect, but it helped me realize that there was no reason to be so doubtful in my writing. It was a lot of fun being able to experiment with a language that I have lived with for so long. I have never written creatively in Spanish, and found it challenging but also very…
I think that I challenged myself to receive good grades, and that I have done so this semester. I am eager to find out new or different things that I have some knowledge about, but I was amazed at the things I thought were right with counseling issues that I was completely wrong about. I am sure that I still have a long way to go, and many new things to learn. I feel that I was entirely invested in this class and all the assignments that were given to me. I wasn’t late on any assignments and many times had the assignment finished before it was due. I read each chapter carefully and was interested in each new thing that I found. I always want to do my very best in each class that I take. I returned back to college when I was 40 years old. This was something that I had dreamed of for many years, but was afraid to try it. I thought that I wasn’t smart enough to go back to school. I am glad that I made this decision even if it was many years after I should have done it.…
Improvements that I’ve made overall this year are that I’m able to manage myself time wise better, I’ve noticed I’ve become a lot more self-motivated, I’ve gotten a lot better at my free response questions in AP Human Geography and I’m able to think of the answers to questions that require a response faster. I received A’s in my portfolio…
Throughout my placement on Redbrook ward, i have had the opportunity to be involved and take part in MDT meetings. By producing the following table, i was able to understand why having MDT meetings are important, and the importance they have on effective patient care.…
Finally the day came and it was time for me to go to school. I was scared; I did not know where I was, and I did not know a single word in English. There was no way my mom would stick me in an English classroom. They moved me to a Spanish one; there I had a more clear idea of what I was learning. The teacher was a sweet, calm lady; she had patience with my wiggly and off place writing, to this day I have not figured out whether she understood it or not. Once I learned my ABC’s here came the small words of animals and things like for example “oso” which means bear in Spanish. Learning to read and write seamed so boring. I had to sit down and do homework which required my attention, but I preferred to draw and play. Learning was torture; I would read very slowly, even when I tried to read those small picture books for small kids, I was useless by that time.…
I am a dedicated person to the game of many sports and teaching. I have taught several different sports and also have been well trained in a classroom setting. Working with children of all ages, I have 8 years of coaching football, 4 years of basketball, 12 years of softball with private lessons as well and 3 years’ experience working with special needs students in a classroom. I have a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and graduated with honors in that field. I also obtained a teaching credential in Kinesiology but wanted to pursue more in special; education. I believe that education is the way to get somewhere in life, that is why I am continuing my education and getting my Master’s Degree. I like the feeling of teaching and knowing that the students will feel good about them self and have the confidence to approach anything in life due to the positive influence that I have taught them.…
A memorable moment of the Spanish major is how I was able to connect with a part of my culture that I never knew existed. Initially I felt that I was very educated in my history but the Spanish major actually helped me to get in touch with my roots. I was able to connect with my roots through history, literature, and language. Because of this I was able to establish a new sense of respect for my culture and the other Spanish speaking cultures.…
