Native people are the most left out in discussions about the country, when in fact, native voices should be the strongest. Inuit and other native peoples have taken care of this earth for thousands of years and have a genuine cultural motivation to do so. These communities need to be preserved and celebrated for their rich culture and wisdom about the land, not assimilated. I chose to do this group of people because while I’m not Inuit, I am native and I know the strong impact assimilation had on my ancestors and even my living family members, and I feel as if Canada is not preventing the same thing from happening to Inuit people.
