investigatory project
Pollution is one of the main problems the world faces today. One of

the reasons is the overload of non-biodegradable objects like plastics,

cans and Styrofoam. The invention of plastics and Styrofoam made a

huge change in our society and it helped us in many ways. But it is

also one of the main pollutants that destroy our planet.

Because of these we devised a way to recycle used Styrofoam, and

this is to make glue out of it. This glue can help reduce the number of

Styrofoam that will be thrown away.

Styrofoam is made of polystyrene beads which unravel into fine

strands whenever it is melted/dissolved. Due to the unraveling of

polystyrene, the Styrofoam will become a thick like gel.

When it is a gel, it will be moldable and when it dries it will be very

sticky. It is a very effective adhesive to glue things together.

But it is not very safe since it is napalm and it can damage the lungs if

it is burned. It also gives off a foul odor.

B. Statement of the Problem

The significance of this study is that, this study can help our community in

pollution. Instead of throwing anywhere the styrofoam, they just recycle it

and make it a sealant. This study can also help us in financial problem

because, instead of buying expensive commercial sealant, you can just

make this study and your problem is solved.

Styrofoam is abundant and many started to recycle and reuse it. One of the ideas that came into mind was Glue from Styrofoam. Styrofoam when melted has very strong adhesive properties that can rival several commercial glue products.
B. Statement of the Problem
Will the Glue from Styrofoam be as effective as commercial glue?
Will it be inexpensive?
Will it last a long time?
C. Hypothesis
Yes, because melted Styrofoam is very adhesive.
Yes, because most materials used are recycled and most are found at home.
Yes, if the Glue is stored properly it can last a long time.
D. Significance

If more people, mainly business and industries, begin adapting to this method, it would reduce many harms which come with not recycling styrofoam. One of the main harms includes the land the piled up styrofoam occupies. It is estimated that 25-30% of landfills are solely dedicated to plastics, including styrofoam. This Means that almost 1/4th of all our landfills are being filled with styrofoam or other plastics. This number can be reduced greatly if the findings of this experiment were to be taken up by others. Another harm that is presented by the lack of recycling of styrofoam is polystyrene takes at least five hundred years to decompose. This means that all that 25-30% of styrofoam which occupies the landfills will remain their for at least 5 centuries. This is not only a waste of space for a very long time but also a burden for the future generations. Aside from the impacts on humans styrofoam is also known for causing choking and starvation of wildlife. Due to our lack of attention and care, innocent animals have to suffer, once again. We not only chock them to death but also pollute their water sources. Since styrofoam floats in water, due to being lightweight, it contaminates many water source (mainly in United States), affect the lives of not only humans but animals as well. Seeing as their are so many problems which arise from the neglect to recycle or dispose of…

People these days use different kinds of commercial glue to fix broken pieces or to bind different materials. In our modern time, glue may varied from industrial and commercial purpose to ordinary glue used at home and school. Most of the commercially available glue is claiming to be non-toxic. However, we are still uncertain of this claim since they contain preservatives that may harm both the user and the environment.…

We selected this research project because we want to compare the effects of using papaya’s papain and the commercial meat tenderizers that can be bought in many supermarkets. Some people also tried this research project, like Gian Paul Giron, a student in a university in Manila. It spurred me to work on this problem because other researchers did not accomplish in making the papain meat tenderizer available in markets and can be bought in a lower price than the commercial ones. The results of this study can make a contribution to attain a better quality life, because if this will be successful, consumers can now buy a meat tenderizer that is chemical-free. It means that the papaya that we will be using will not use any commercial fertilizers.…

The study on the production of chalk out of sea shells was designed to produce quality dustless and long lasting chalk to compare with the standard existing commercialized chalks if there are any, which was sold in the market. The chalk out of sea shells is for local or non-local used for schools or any educational aspects or even at home which can be formed into different sizes and colors according to your will. We, the researchers, used the sea shells to recycle and transformed it into a useful product that will be used in our developing community. The production of this artifact that has been created by us strictly followed the procedures. First, collect sea shells from the sea shore. Then, boil it until it opens and being crushed into powder and becomes ready to be processed and made to different figures. Thus, the production of the product was accomplished and tested on its quality and strength. Data on the successful product were tested and was finished accurately. Results showed that the said finished product, made from sea shells, is comparable in terms of appearance and quality.…

The project is all about viscosity. Viscosity is a very important quality of liquids that scientists, engineers, and even doctors are frequently trying to measure and change. It is difficult, for example, to transport highly viscous crude oil through offshore pipelines, so scientists and engineers use a variety of methods to try and lower the oil 's resistance to flow through the pipelines. Likewise, in medicine, doctors try to keep blood viscosity in the correct range. If blood is "too thick," or viscous, a patient can develop blood clots. If blood is "too thin, ' ' or lacks viscosity, however, then the patient is at risk for bruising or bleeding events. Blood viscosity, like most things in medicine, has a happy medium. Volcanologists have a big interest in viscosity, too. The viscosity of molten rock or magma determines how easily a volcano will erupt, and what shape the lava flows and resulting mountains will take on. The researcher would observe that knowing the time it took to travel through the column of a liquid, the height of the column, the density of the sphere, and the density of the liquid, the researcher can then calculate the viscosity of the liquid with the viscosity equation. The researcher 's hypotheses were yes, the researcher can determine the viscosities of the liquids by using marbles. The researcher needed a graduated cylinder, ruler, pentel pen, five liquids (oil, water, hone syrup, vinegar, and soy sauce), stopwatch and five marbles. The researcher needed to get the average time, velocities, the delta 's and lastly the viscosity of the liquids by following the procedures in the methodology part of this project. The researchers results were that the dropped sphere method used was the basic way of find a liquid 's viscosity. The honey syrup…

We have encountered a phenomenon that states that the hotter liquid freezes faster than cold liquid. This phenomenon has been known for a long time, but was rediscovered by a Tanzanian high school student, Erasto Mpemba, in the 1960s. He and his classmates were making ice cream, using a recipe that included boiled milk. The students were supposed to wait for the mixture to cool before putting it in the freezer. The remaining space in the freezer was running out, and Mpemba noticed one of his classmates put his mixture in without boiling the milk. To save time and make sure that he got a spot in the freezer, Mpemba put his mixture in while it was still hot. He was surprised to find later that his ice cream froze first.…
