Is Smoking Suicide?
Is Smoking Suicide?
Tobacco use is directly related to lung cancer in ninety percent of males and eighty percent of women. Also tobacco use is directly linked to twenty percent of heart disease. What this says to me is that using tobacco is essentially suicide. So, yes tobacco use is suicide and tobacco leads to an estimated five million deaths every year. Mean while seventy percent of those five million deaths are in under developed countries. I believe the reason three and a half million people die from tobacco use in under developed countries is that un their countries the effects of tobacco are not known very well to the public.
Also, people who use tobacco have a death rate twice those of non-smokers. Tobacco doesn’t directly kill the users of it but many of the four thousand toxic chemicals do. Some of the chemicals are nicotine an addictive drug. I also got that non-smokers who are exposed to second hand smoke are just as likely to get the same diseases and cancers as smokers themselves. So this means that people that who smoke around non-smokers are doing just as much damage to others as they are to themselves, which is very rude. I also noticed that women who smoke while pregnant are more likely to have a child with a birth defect. This is because all the carcinogens that the mother takes also go to the child. Which means some children could be born addicted to tobacco.
I got that if you quit smoking the effects of quitting are a lower risk of lung cancer, heart disease, cancer, better oral hygiene, gums, teeth, and breath. Also, I think that is saying that quitting is very hard because there is an addictive drug called nicotine which makes you’re brain need more and more of this addictive drug and while quitting you have withdrawals such as anger, loss of appetite, and impatience. A good time to quit for Muslims is the month Ramadan. There are many ways that smoking kills. Here are the ways it kills you lung diseases, heart attack, and stroke.

Smoking cigarettes can cause lung problems. Both first-hand and second-hand smokers are affected by cigarette smoke. Scientific findings and researches show that the chemicals in cigarettes, apart from the smoke, can lead to health problems such as lung cancer. Smoking cigarettes should be banned in public places. In public places, more people, both young and old, can be exposed to the smoke from cigarettes. My position differs from those who might say that smoking altogether should not be banned. My position is that smoking in public places should be banned. It does not include smoking in private places like homes. Smoking in public places should be banned because it poses health risks to individuals who are non-smokers and who do not want to inhale the fumes from cigarettes. The risks are double to those who already have lung ailments.…

In times like today, people have mixed views on smoking and on the effects it has on the human body. Most people who smoke, feel that non-smokers are against them, and believe in the myths that are portrayed by cigarette companies. They do not realize how addictive cigarettes are, and end up stuck with the burden. I feel that her entire article is truly opinionated and biased about non-smokers and she really doesn’t have the hard evidence, just personal experience.…

    Second Hand Smoke

Second Hand Smoke In the 1950's and 60's scientists gave the people a lot of evidence on the deadly effects of smoking where the tobacco companies on the other hand tried to put the doubt in people's minds through the campaigns to show that it is not all true. By the time people actually decided to take care of their health and finally saw how life-threatening smoking could be by real life examples, the tobacco companies already got rich from its sales. Nowadays, nobody doubts that "firsthand" smoke is deadly to your health and it causes lung cancer and heart disease in adults and asthma and bronchitis in children. Now the industry is onto the secondhand smoke. Scientists and researchers are representing a lot of evidence and research that has been done throughout the years showing that the secondhand smoke can also cause a lung cancer in nonsmokers. The study has been done of people who have been long exposed to secondhand smoke and it shows that 26 out of 33 published studies indicate a link between secondhand smoke and lung cancer. The study estimates that the people that were breathing secondhand smoke were 8 to 150 percent more likely to get lung cancer. The tobacco companies are trying to argue the facts and are still in serious debate about the health hazards of breathing a secondhand smoke. A lot of anti-smoking organizations are trying to turn smoking in public into a private activity that does not have to involve nonsmokers breathing secondhand smoke. What is even more important is that many of these organizations convinced a lot of smokers to cut back or quit completely. The problem of secondhand smoke is increasing because it is so common in our society. It makes secondhand smoke the third-ranking cause of lung cancer among nonsmokers. Mothers who live with a smoking spouse have to realize the ill effects of secondhand smoke on children even before they are born. The smoking components reach the developing fetus through the mother.…

In this article, it states that “there are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 7,000 chemicals. At least 69 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous”. This article also gives a fact that cigarette smoking greatly increased the risk of cancers (especially lung cancer), heart disease, respiratory system diseases, and stroke. Also, it shows that cigarette smoking caused more than 450,000 deaths every year in the United States. This article can be useful for my future project because it provides an overview of cigarette smoking. It also gives people a better understanding of the basic information about cigarette smoking. I personally think that people need to know how cigarette smoking can affect their health in order to prevent or quit smoking…

Tobacco: “A preparation of the nicotine-rich leaves of an American plant, which are cured by a process of drying and fermentation for smoking or chewing.” declares the dictionary, but most would define it as “death” or “termination” “destruction” and many other synonyms that go along with ending your life. Yes, it is true that many are against smoking along with things that have to do with tobacco. Many advertisements and public service announcements, etc, prove that point. Tobacco & Death

On all packages containing tobacco sold in the United States of America, a clear and definitive warning from the Surgeon General is printed somewhere on the package. This statement should appear to relay the same message as the following quote, "SURGEON GENERAL’S WARNING: Smoking Causes Lung Cancer, Heart Disease, Emphysema, And May Complicate Pregnancy." (United States Code). A similar statement is printed on every item containing tobacco that is sold in the United States. This warning is fair to the consumer as they devour the harmful side effects from tobacco products while knowing the consequences that may come in the future. Many studies have been done to prove that tobacco is harmful to the human body, however it is still the consumer's choice to decide whether he or she is willing to continue or begin using the product despite its possible future harsh consequences. Tobacco companies should not be held responsible for the estimated 5 million worldwide deaths of their consumers because they have printed fair warnings on all tobacco products packaging, the consumer has the choice to use or not to use the product and the consumer also has the opportunity and ability to quit using the product at any time.…
