1 Azam or Azam 1 Malaysia was established by Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak to provide the opportunities for the low income people or people in poverty to generate their income. This program are being recognize to give the opportunity for the poor people, increasing income exceed the limited level poverty line are been fixed RM750 a month for the poor and RM2000 per months for lower income people. There are four opportunities to increase the people’s income that are job placement, small scale business, services activities and agricultural activities. Overall, 1 Azam initiative will focus on employment opportunities to the people of Malaysia through the relocation of jobs filled by foreign workers. The government introduced a laboratory NKRA minimum wages to various industries and sector of employment offered to the Malaysian workforce, the job market will see Malaysian workers earning at least RM750 per month to employees graduated low and semi-skilled workers.
There are four components in the movement1Azam which are AZAM Tani that give opportunities for lower income people to generate income through agro-based activities. Next is, AZAM Niaga, this program help to generate income through the small business with training and micro credit facilities. Third is AZAM Kerja is to generate income through the job placement. The program gives focus on the various fields of employment for those who are productive, have minimal or no skills qualifications and skills training are provided in AZAM Khidmat. The income is generating through field services such as landscape care, car wash. Until August 2010, a total of 7125 low-income household has been identified to participate in the Azam Tani, followed by AZAM Niaga (2584), AZAM Kerja (969) and AZAM Khidmat (798).
