Jaydon, Jacob and Tyler obtained a 30 cm piece of dialysis tubing and cut 2.5cm off of the 30cm piece and soaked it in water. Then they tied one side off to form a bag. They then rubbed the other end of the bag to open it up and then are able to fill the bag with solution. The next step of the lab was to test for the presence of glucose in a 15% glucose and 1% starch. Then they took the 15% glucose and 1% starch and took 15 mL and placed them in enclosed bags. Jaydon, Jacob and Tyler then tie off the bag leaving room for expandable contents in the solution.
Then they took distilled water and filled it with 250 mL beaker or one other option includes filling a cup up ⅔’s of the way full with the distilled water. Then they took the distilled water and added about 4 mL of Lugol’s solution. Then they put the bag in the beaker solution.
Then watch for any odd things to happen like change of color in bag or beaker. They let it stand for a good 30 minutes. Then they recorded what happened. Jaydon, Jacob and …show more content…
They then sliced potatoes approximately 3 cm thick. To cut the potatoes Jaydon, Jacob and Tyler used a cork borer, do not include any skin of the potato in this process. Jaydon, Jacob and Tyler used 4 cylinders of the potato. Jaydon, Jacob and Tyler covered there potato slices til it was their turn to use the balance. Then they determined the mass of the 4 cylinders together and recorded the mass. Jaydon, Jacob and Tyler took the sucrose solution and inputted is with the potatoes. Jaydon, Jacob and Tyler covered the beakers with plastic wrap to prevent evaporation. Then they let the potatoes stand overnight in the sucrose solution. Jaydon, Jacob and Tyler then removed the covers from the beakers the next day. Jaydon, Jacob and Tyler put the potatoes gently on paper towels and determined there mass. Jaydon, Jacob and Tyler then recorded all the data on their
