I think that people are capable of change; however the crime committed and the horror the family had to witness as well as the life lost tells that the best option was not to grant Jacob parole as it would still be a possibility that he could be potentially dangerous due to the two murders that Jacob pleaded guilty to. It is concerning that Jacob was able to kill Eric without much reason or thought on his plan to kill him. If I were in a similar situation as the family of Eric I would be angry and I would not feel that he deserved to get out of prison not only for the killing of my son, but that as well he has confessed to another murder. If I were Jacob, I would be frustrated feeling as if I paid for my crime as it seemed that Jacob did feel somewhat bad for what he did, but at the same time did not seem to fully grasp what he had done. I think if I were Jacob and did sincerely feel awful for what I did then I could accept not being able to get parole and that this was a consequence of the decision I made that affected several peoples’ lives.
