Every night I am dragged into this abyss without fail every night the same dream. not once do I fall asleep and a don’t see this darkness. These eyes have been watching me I don’t who they belong to or what they are glowing red.. Every night they get closer. What… happens when… these eyes…reach me? but I know how this dream will end I will wade through this abyss for what seems like an eternity then wake up. Suddenly I hear a voice it says “soon boy your days are numbered”.

“Great another day” you see every day I wake up with a head ache. It’s not the best way to start the morning. Anyway time to start the day. I wrestle with my blankets

Based on its cold hard stares it is going after me. I don’t know what I should do the two things I am thinking about is running. Or standing my ground. I quickly decide that I am not going to take my chances. I am going to run. Looking back on it I never knew I could run so fast I guess that’s what fear does to you. But I don’t go very far before I twist my leg at a bad angle and crumple into a heap on the ground. Before the monster leaps a bright light engulfs me and the monster. After the light faded there are two girls in front of me on with a smile on her face. And one with her arms crossed with a salty look on her face like she does not want to be here they tell me there my guardian angles. They say they are here to make Shure I am safe. Because they say if I’m vary valuable for unspecified reasons. They leave with a wink and say that they will be closer than before to make Shure that never happens again. I run to school trying to forget what just happened to keep this craziness off my mind. But when I get to school and class starts I cannot focus on the lessons at hand. I try to think if I have ever seen those two girls before… nope no I don’t think I have ever seen those two girls in my life. Trying to forget the two girls I listen to the teacher says that there are two new transfer students “please make them feel welcome” the teacher says. Come and introduce yourselves. I bolt upright those are the two girls that

Furious, I rip months of work off my apartment wall. The yellowing paint comes off as I fling the paper across the room. I’d been on this case for so long, and yet, I was still at square one. I pace the small room trying to figure out what I was missing. There was one piece of the puzzle that just didn’t fit. I walk over to the small desk and scan through the police files. The killer used the same M.O. but nothing connected the victims.…

Now thinking about the game, not Sam, Lelia thought it would be only fitting the game evolve around Owen Bauer, that new cute guy working at the First National. After all, Mr. Owen Bauer was not a local, he was a stranger in town. She giggled to herself, thinking of him being called “Mister”. RIP Chloe Henry. I didn't really know her that much. We used to go to school together and even though we were both really young I remember your kindnes. All I hear people say about you is how much you cared about everyone and how nice and sweet you were. It's not fair to anyone to have to go through what happened to you. And it's not fair for any parents to have their child pass away. It's not fair how young you were and how many things you never had a chance to do. When I found out about this it made me feel absolutely terrible and I still do whenever I think about this injustice. We all love you and pray for you. You did nothing to deserve this. It makes me so fucking pissed off this happened I don’t understand how this coud be done. We all…

I didn’t really know what happened during the fire. All I heard was T.J. getting injured and going to jail. Mama told me that The Logans and The Wallices were putting out the fire and how T.J. went to jail. “Mama,” I asked softly. “Why did T.J. go to jail?”…

In the small, peaceful village of Rhinebeck, where tourists and travelers from all over the country venture through, a wooden cottage stood just off of Main Street. Within the cottage lay a middle aged man by the name of John Edelman. His short, scruffy beard had begun to remodel itself into a plain of grey, and his once youthful olive skin had turned pale with creases around his eyes and mouth. Most villagers, if asked about John, would have nothing but positive remarks. Kind, quiet, and caring, he often engaged in projects to improve the community, and had come to the aid of many friends.…

Jessie remained silent as Irish spoke of her beliefs. The concept was foreign to him, and he listened with curiosity and apprehension. Every religion, he had heard of so far in his life, left little to no place for women as an equal. He was more sad than surprised to learn that even the old gods seemed to be chauvinist pigs. "So, Jude, was your bad boy?…

A few minutes later, Jason walks over and stands in front of me at the Labrae table. He can see that I am bothered. His exterior has softened – a little. He asks why I was crying and I told him it was because of the way he talked to me and that I would not be able to get my doughnuts out on time. But there was more to it than that: I was worried that he would unfairly use this incident as an opportunity to support his claim that I could not “cut it” as a baker.…

The bitter night Avah was killed the whole town was out celebrating. The Spring Festival was an annual affair and only the most isolated of persons would have not been there. It was a festival meticulously planned out by those intrigued in such matters and each detail was carried out to exact perfection. The Humphrey family would perform a skit each year at exactly six-thirty, the mayor would grace the audience with a well-planned speech at six-forty-five. At seven o’clock the potluck dessert would be brought out by the women and then once a half hour had passed, enough time for the people to converse with each other, the festival games would begin.…

This dojo, which smelled of sweat that would make people pinch their noses and curse out loud before they even reach the door is a familiar sight to me. But the sound wasn't right. As much as i hated those stinky brat (That only came to hit on my distant cousin), training just didn't feel the same without them, the worst part of this eerie silence is probably how it keep remind me i'm about to sell grandfather's dojo to pay that 50.000$ dollar debt my good-for-nothing failure of a father left behind after his death. Edgar Allan Poe is by far one of the most influential writers of our time. He is also one of the darkest writers of all time. Poe has always been known for his dramatic and eerie writing style, whose stories are sure to cause a chill to run down your spine while reading one of his short stories or poems. Some of Edgar Allan Poe’s Writings such as “The Masque of the Red death”, “The Raven”, “The Cask of Amontillado”, “The Fall of the House of Usher ” , to name a few of his works, along with a host of other poems and short stories, all seem to have a common theme, death. Edgar Allan Poe became focused on death after enduring a miserable childhood, not to mention him having to witness a significant amount of loss of those close to him. This affected his mind which reflected in his works. One can see that there are patterns and similarities in many of the above mentioned works. However, despite the many similarities, there is one thing that appears to be generally different about Poe’s works. That would be his characters. In class, we have read the short story, “The Masque of the Red Death”. I would like to compare this story to another one of Poe’s Short Stories “The fall of the House of Usher” and look at the similarities of the two stories, and also examine the differences in the two stories, if in any.…
