The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing. Family is the best thing you could ever ask for. They are there for you during the ups and downs and love you no matter what happens. You might be exactly alike, or extremely different but overall blood makes you related but the love you give/ have makes you family.
Although my Grandmother and I are extremely different, we are also alike in ways. We are both determined people. My Grandmother got her first job at CNA when she was only sixteen years old and has been working for them for over 30 years until they got bought out by Allstate insurance. I have also been working since the age of 16 my first job real job was at Forever 21, which I currently still work at today. We are also both strong willed people. My Granny has raised all seven of her siblings along with my mother and worked a full time job at the age of 16. I on the other hand am good with handling all different kinds of situations from death to surprises because I think before I react to the news.
Although my Grandmother and I are alike in many ways, we are also extremely different. Our music choices are different. My Grandmother likes to listen to R&B Soul which is Earth, Wind, and Fire and Charlie Willison. Well I like to listen to Rap such as Lil Wayne, Kanye West, and Big Sean. We also have two different ways of being honest with people. My Grandmother is an extremely blunt person if it is on her mind at the time she will say it no matter how you may react to it. I take a different approach I think about what I am going to say to a person before it comes out my mouth because I care about hurting people’s feelings. My Grandmother is very closed minded when it comes to new things. It’s like she is set in her own ways and it not going to change period. But I am more of a free spirit type of person I am willing to trying and doing a lot of new things.
You might be exactly alike or extremely different but blood makes you related but the love you

The fictional queen of Ithaca and and a woman in 1930’s Mississippi having anything in common might seem like a stretch but in fact, they are more similar than they seem at first glance. Penelope of The Odyssey and Penny of O Brother, Where Art Thou have much in common along with characteristics that set them apart from each other. Penelope is presented as loyal, distraught. Penny is presented as unapologetic and a more independent, strong woman when being compared to Penelope. The two women are similar in that they are both cunning and cautious. Many of these changes are made in order to allow the character to blend into the time period and, in the case of Penny, to create a stronger, more realistic female character.…

So I begin with my grandparents from both my mother and father’s side. My grandparents from my mother’s side both are in heaven. Interestingly enough they both passed on the 17th which is interesting; they were also a few years apart in age! I asked my mother if my grandparents had ancestors from places other than Dominican Republic; she stated my grandfather’s mother was Puerto Rican, and their parents migrated from Spain. Both of my grandparents had a lot of health issues. They both have had a history of asthma and problems breathing. My grandmother had more than one issue with her health. She had skin cancer and never attended to it. My grandmother was close with all of her nieces and nephews. I was really close with her and she was one of the people who inspired me with school. They eventually migrated to the United States but had all of their children in the Dominican Republic.…

Grandmas, the ones that cook for you and give you candy are the ones that love you for who you are and let you get away with things they wouldn't let their own kids get away with. Some grandmas can't even walk when they get up in age, but then there are some like mine who at the age of 83 are doing things other 83 years olds don't and shouldn't be doing. Most people would expect an 83 year old grandma to be knitting, light cooking, playing bingo and slowly walking her way to church. Not my grandmother, you can find her climbing on ladders, fixing fans, constantly moving, driving big pick-up trucks, all while looking like she is going to the social club.…

“Grandma” was essentially a “no nonsense” woman. Her style of parenting was very intense, and in many ways her strategies were punitive and very restrictive. Her way of justifying this was that she “did not want me to turn out like my father.” I also believe her anxieties may have been a result some unresolved emotional attachments that she had in her childhood. Her mother died when she was 13, and she was raised by a step mother who was extremely strict. My grandmother was very emotionally distant, and her way of showing love was through discipline, and material things. My grandmother had this notion that if she exposed me to a spiritual upbringing, material possessions, and strict discipline, I would not turn out like my father. (Very low tolerance for differentiation) Well…… I did. At the age of 10, I ran away from home, and by the age of 16 I was addicted to crack cocaine.…

“You don't have to be a "person of influence" to be influential. In fact, the most influential people in my life are probably not even aware of the things they've taught me.” – Scott Adams. I believe that the one person that has the most influence in shaping my life is my grandmother. She has taught me how to be independent and courageous. Many people say that I am a lot like my grandmother because she and I both have very similar personalities and characteristics. By spending majority of my time with my grandmother, I have realized that she is very influential to my life.…
