The justice theory looks into how people value both fair and equitable treatment by their employers. Based upon the theories devised by Skinner, the concept of reinforcement does not focus on any internal states like motivation, rather it explains behavior as a function of the individual's reinforcement history - the behavior that brought rewards in the past. Skinner believed that individuals are controlled by their environments and are not necessarily free-willed. Despite that people are motivated by their internal causes, usually those causes can be related back to their environment (Feist & Feist, 2013).
