The human caring theory is now being introduced in many organizations as a guide to patient care (Parker & Smith 2010, p. 359). Watson’s theory applied in nursing practice not only allows for nurses to care better for patients as a whole but further allows nurses to care better for themselves as whole beings (Caruso, Cisar & Pipe 2008). When Watson’s carative factors are followed, nurses are able to see each of their patient as a person, just like themselves, who lives, breathes, thinks and has emotions; instead of seeing their patient as a bed number.
