Completing an in school suspension would take Joey away from instruction as well as his peers. This form of punishment would not teach Joey expected behavior or give him the opportunity to practice the expected behavior. Furthermore, when logical consequences are known, students understand what will occur if those expectations are not met. Further, Joey’s logical consequence should include loss of privilege, in conjunction with apologizing to his peers in a meaningful manner. In addition, the system should also include genuine incentives for expected behavior. That way, Joey, and all students, will come to value the intrinsic rewards rather than extrinsic rewards. If the aforementioned policies were established at Joey’s school, it would provide him with a clear set of expectations so that he is able to develop self-control. Thus, Joey will learn how to manage himself within the classroom, thereby greatly reducing the chance of repeated behavior
