Giovanni Cabot (John Cabot) was a Genoese explorer and navigator who explored the Eastern coast of Canada in C.1497 with the permission and supervision of King Henry VII. Giovanni was born in C.1450 and passed away around C.1500. Cabot was an early merchant with no sailing experience but studied and had an interest in sailing. After countless years of being a merchant, he fully became a Venetian citizen being born in Genoa, Italy which gave him full consent to trade with other countries. Even though, his various voyages were helpful, he did not accomplish what he wanted to do since he did not reach Asia. Furthermore, he has gained land for his country since the Eastern coast of Canada was still not developed by Native Americans. Even though John Cabot did not go back to his country after his second voyage, he was honored with a university (John Cabot University) and a statue of him in the port of Bristol. Lastly, he was a courageous man due to him always trying to explore the “unknown “and never being afraid what situations he might face in the ocean. I know this because in the text( URL shown in the bibliography) it says “In February 1498 he was given consent to continue by making a new voyage, to North America” and “In May 1498, John Cabot left off the port of Bristol…” This shows that John didn’t wait that much and quickly obtained what he needed and didn’t wait at all for any other thoughts to come which shows that he is very courageous to discover new
