John Flenn Strengths And Weaknesses
John Glenn was a well known hero who played a huge role in American society. He began his piloting career in the Marines and eventually, progressed to space craft. Through his missions, Glenn was able to discover valuable data that would further space observations and benefit space programs. Glenn was also an Ohio state senator, which allowed him to excel as a leader. Glenn victoriously led the army, held a position in politics, and conducted valuable space exploration that proved to be strengthen to our nation.

Glenn showed a strong talent in mechanics and helped out at his father’s small Chevy dealership (Kupperberg, 2004). Glenn participated in many after-school activities in high school, such as football, basketball, student council, and marching band. Being involved in a variety of activities, Glenn was able to discover his strengths. Glenn played an active role in his school and community.
Glenn attended college at Muskingum College in Ohio. Annie Castor, Glenn’s high school sweetheart, was also enrolled in Muskingum College. Glenn majored in engineering, while Castor majored in the music department. Besides studying, Glenn also dedicated his time to his jobs, sports teams, and clubs. Glenn kept himself busy throughout his college years, balancing his education, hobbies, and social life (Tilton, 2001). After many months of training, Glenn was accepted to the elite branch of service and received his commission as a second lieutenant in the marines. Glenn earned two Distinguished Flying Crosses during his duty in the Pacific and also acquired skills essential to becoming a test pilot (Kupperberg, 2004). At Pax River, Glenn was promoted to captain and in 1953, he joined the First Marine Air Wing as a fighter pilot in Korea. In Korea, this victorious World War II hero earned his third Distinguished Flying Cross and eight Air Medals for his service (Kupperberg, 2004). Without Glenn’s contributions in the sky, the United States would have struggled against the Koreans.     This how He was awarded the first Medal of Honor. Another time he was awarded for his combat was in Haiti. It was 15 years after he had been in China. He was now an Gunnery Sergeant in the USMC.
