Sergeant Major Daly Research Paper

Sergeant Major Daniel Daly enlisted during the Spanish-American war. He weighs 135 lbs and was only 5 foot 4 inches. Daly grow up in New York. his dad had a lot of political power in Long Island New York. in n sergeant Major Daniel Daly joined the United States Marine Corp at the age of 25. Daniel Daly is an influential American because he single handedly saved the life of many American soldiers,and help us win WWI. He achieve many awards that others will try their whole life to get, 2 Medals of Honors, The Navy Cross, and the Frances Medaille militaire. During the attack on China Daly was sent to Beijing. Where he showed his heroics when he volunteered to hold an whole flank (side) by himself all night killing near 200 chinese soldiers
This how He was awarded the first Medal of Honor. Another time he was awarded for his combat was in Haiti. It was 15 years after he had been in China. He was now an Gunnery Sergeant in the USMC. His troops and himself were traveling along a river when they were ambushed (surprised attacked) by the Haitians, he quickly jumped into action getting his troops out of harm's way. During this battle he was wounded three times, and took out an machine gun nest armed with only a .45 pistol and an grenade. After the battle was over he was put in the drawing for another Medal of Honor. But was not awarded it but the Distinguished Service Cross, the Navy Cross, and the France Medaille
