Literary Naturalism:
Literary naturalism is the study of a character’s development in relation to his/her development. In London’s work he demonstrates how the characters adapt and change their personality and feelings to fit the environment. Such as in The Call of the Wild when main character “Buck” was captured and he changed from a loving house pet into a complete blood thirsty killer craze wolf. Buck changed that way because he heard “the call of the wild”; this proves that the environment and surroundings change you. Another example shared by London is how people who don’t work or do anything for them wind up dying because of their stupidity and ignorance to think some one should do everything for them. London’s story “In a Far Country” is the story where London shared this information. Although there are many more one of London’s best sellers has a quite nice one with a good outcome. One of London’s best sellers White Fang shares the story of a very poorly treated dog named White Fang is found by a sweet man named Weedon Scott. White Fang was tortured by a man called “Beauty” when found by Scott. Scott treated him with lots of love and caused a mean wolf to become a sweet, loving and protective house pet.
