John Kasich was born to the parents of Anne and John Kasich Sr. on May 1, 1952 (former age: 63 years) in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. Tragically …show more content…
in 1987, both of his parents were killed by a drunk driver in a freak accident. Although with this unexpectancy John Kasich continued on to reestablish his religion as Anglicanism (Roman Catholic or Christian) and built his life up once again. He was originally married to Mary Lee Griffith but they divorced in 1980, to which he remarried Karen (Waldbillig) Kasich in 1997 where they have two twin girls together, Emma and Reese.
John has served in the House for 18 years and has served nine years in congress for Columbus, Ohio. He is the current governor of Ohio. He has sat on the Armed Services Committee and has been the chairman of the Budget Committee, where he helped lead a successful attempt in establishing a balanced federal budget. In Ohio, he cut taxes and eliminated a large budget deficit. Many critics say he partly benefited from improving national economy.
Joh Kasich has also engineered an expansion of Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act in correspondence to president Barrack Obama. His beliefs persuaded him to spend more money on treatment for drugs and alcohol addiction. He apparently is open to offer citizenship to illegal immigrants as long as they register and pay a fine. Kasich considers himself a ''strong and emotional supporter of Israel,''. This is evident as his supports to providing arms to Ukraine to help it fight Russian-backed rebels. Although he believes in traditional marriages (man and a woman), after the Supreme Court recognized the right to same-sex marriage, he slightly adjusted his views to allow it rather than fight due to times changing. He has generated criticism from fellow Republicans for saying he was open to considering president Obama's plans for an immigration overhaul. He believes that climate change is a problem, but criticized government intervention, like with regulating coal. His strong beliefs of education influences John to support the Common Core set of national education standards to raise students' proficiency in math and English, which many conservatives have deemed as a federal government overreach. But in Ohio, his state, those standards and curriculum is said to be set by local school boards. He has taken issues with fellow Republicans who slash poverty programs causing a little bit of rivalry. Kasich’s main financial contributors are: Plaskolite Inc., Medical Mutual, Total Quality Logistics, Meridian Health, Huntington Bancshares, Nap Investors Holdings, Jones Day, Dinsmore and Shol, B&J Development, and 1a Auto Inc.
and other businesses similar. This shows that majority of the people support him due to his strong beliefs in helping the poor and creating stronger education. The only flaw that John Kasich has is that he fails to break through during debates to show the people his strong positions and win the vote of the people. He has the votes of the people of who know him well but as to the other areas and states he is unknown which causes him to be put under the radar especially in comparison to other candidates who are very outspoken. With all of the information presented, John Kasich is well skilled and more than active in the current issues being presented in the U.S enabling him to be a strong competitor in the 2016 race. With his strong views on education, immigration issues, same-sex marriage, the large sums of poverty, and climate change, he has the power to become a very likable candidate, if given the right opportunity. Solely based on the facts supporting John, there is no doubt he will try his hardest to better equipped America to make it more ideal for all citizens to live
in.
