“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way” (John C. Maxwell). The power of one is a movie about a young boy named Peter Philip Kenneth-Keith was born in South Africa who suffered through his childhood. As he gets older, he tries to change the world by make it a better place. He stands up to people, and to what he believes is right. Not only does he realize what is right and wrong; but also he makes the people surround him see it too. One of the messages in the movie is about being a leader and showing people the right way. As well as changing the world to make it a better place. The quote by John C. Maxwell means that people grow up with an idea. Instead of seeking approval,
people should look inside of themselves and feel what is right. After feeling what is right, they work hard to achieve it. After that, they show other people around them the right path. This quote connects to the message of the movie very well, because Peekay feels that what is going on in their society is not right. He witness racism and prejudice. Discrimination is one major issue in the movie, as Afrikaners do not allow Africans to have the freedom of education and instead are forced to work as slaves. Peekay tries to change this by leading the Africans to help them to learn how to write and read. Peekay also shows his friend Morrie Levi, and his girlfriend Maria the right path by encouraging them to support him to make difference in the world. At the end of the movie, the African people are able to write and read. Peekay was finally able to contribute to his people by empowering them with the knowledge of reading, writing, and hope. To conclude, the quote John C. Maxwell connects to the message of the movie.
