Remember how Johnny Appleseed walked about the countryside beautifying the countryside by planting trees? Well, we are going to do the same thing. Right here. At our school. We are starting the Trees for Life program. And we have three reasons. Why do we need trees?
First of all, trees are beautiful. If you have been over to Bedford Park or have taken a drive along the highway, the situation there looks pretty bad. During the past ten years, our town has grown. Trees have been cut down to make room for houses and office buildings. Shopping centers and new roads too. We and our families need a park where we can relax, play, and picnic. For us to breathe, we need trees secondly. If you plant more trees, you will have more oxygen. Trees turn carbon

Farmers cut forests to provide more room for planting crops or grazing livestock. Often many small farmers will each clear a few acres to feed their families by cutting down trees and burning them (National Geographic 2). Thoreau had his own place to plant also, but Thoreau chose a place free from trees and cared for nature. He made a good point on caring for nature and protecting the land, he advanced to us what was going to happen if we did not care for the environment and his predictions were correct all that he said is now happening with our environment and…

According to The American Forests, people were just cutting down trees for fun or for money. John Muir believes that the trees were God’s work, and people can’t just cut them down for fun. An exact quote from the American Forests that supports my idea is, “God has cared for these trees, saved them from droughts, disease, avalanches, and thousand straining leveling tempests and floods…” Deforestation deserves the second largest gift of $300,000 because if people are just cutting trees down for fun then all of the trees will be cut down. If all the trees get cut down then there will be a lack of oxygen, and it will ruin the animal’s…

Deforestation is an issue we need to fix. I would like to spend 100,000 dollars on deforestation because some of the trees that are being cut down are thousands of years old. “Any fool can destroy trees”(John Muir, “The American Forests,” Atlantic Monthly, August, 1897) Above all this, one fact remains the same, we need trees to live. If we destroy all the trees in the world, we are left with harsh living conditions for ourselves. Our forests should be preserved if we want a better nation.…

A forest, also referred to as a wood or the woods, is an area with a high density of trees. As with cities, depending on various cultural definitions, what is considered a forest may vary significantly in size and have different classifications according to how and of what the forest is composed.[1] A forest is usually an area filled with trees but any tall densely packed area of vegetation may be considered a forest, even underwater vegetation such as kelp forests, or non-vegetation such as fungi,[2] and bacteria. Tree forests cover approximately 9.4 percent of the Earth's surface (or 30 percent of total land area), though they once covered much more (about 50 percent of total land area). They function as habitats for organisms, hydrologic flow modulators, and soil conservers, constituting one of the most important aspects of the biosphere.…

Secondly, the scenery and use of the many trees is essential in cities, as trees play a key role in creating healthy urban environments. Many citizens see trees as an important measure of the quality of their communities. Statistics show that of the total population, 6.1 million (60%) trees are on private property, 3.5 million (34%) trees are in parks and ravines, and 0.6 million (6%) trees are on city streets, in Toronto. I am appealing to you as a conservationist. I believe that the natural resources of the forest can be of great help to us. As we experience this oil and gas crisis in the US, we are forced to import oil from foreign countries. Thus causing the cost of gas to skyrocket. If we are allowed to develop parts the forest for oil and gas, it will help to lower the cost of gas. “The oil and gas boom is also affecting the quality of life in small towns, causing spikes in the housing market.” (“Wyoming Outdoor Council” 2009-2013). These developments will help also to increase revenue for the US.…
