Throughout the Outsiders novel, one can see that despite everything that Johnny has done, he was still considered a hero. At the start of the book, Johnny was very modest and would never move out of his comfort zone. However, as the novel proceeds, he developed into a complex hero because of his courage, responsibility, and acts of kindness. In the book The Outsiders, it has been proven that a hero may be found in the most unlikely of individuals, including supposedly introverted boys, like Johnny Cade.…

He waved boisterously--his trademark--throwing both arms in the air in a full-bodied, hip-hop Y. When he got no response, he and his friends sauntered down the walk to join a group loitering in front of an apartment building. The car followed. The driver got out, brandished a revolver and fired into the air. Everyone scattered. Then he took aim and shot my running nephew in the back. Johnny never lost consciousness. He lay in the road, trying to understand what had happened to him, why he couldn't get up. Emotionlessly, he told the story again and again on demand, remaining apologetically firm against all demands to divulge the missing details that would make sense of the shooting but bad light. Being black, male and shot, he must, apparently, be gang- or drug-involved. Probably both. Witnesses corroborate his version of…

In the small, peaceful village of Rhinebeck, where tourists and travelers from all over the country venture through, a wooden cottage stood just off of Main Street. Within the cottage lay a middle aged man by the name of John Edelman. His short, scruffy beard had begun to remodel itself into a plain of grey, and his once youthful olive skin had turned pale with creases around his eyes and mouth. Most villagers, if asked about John, would have nothing but positive remarks. Kind, quiet, and caring, he often engaged in projects to improve the community, and had come to the aid of many friends.…

Jake Frey. A name that carries weight, and fame. Though, the person fortunate, or unfortunate enough to own this name, knows what kind of fame he has. I know what it is I’m famous for. I’m a survivor and a victim, but of course, to some I am a monster. What happened to me all those years ago was not in my control. It’s not my fault that man had decided to come to my school, shoot many of my friends, and even myself. I was only hit in the lower left portion of my back, but playing dead saved me. He had watched as I tried to escape with my girlfriend Lucy, and my best friend Ezekiel, and my sister Raven.…
