Journey into Adulthood

Growing up we live through thousands of moments that shape and define us. How does one choose just one moment that determines adulthood when many little moments make up this journey. Going to a restaurant and finally having your feet touch the floor. A monumental moment for me as child when I felt I was finally becoming an adult. Sitting in the front seat of my moms car for the first time. Finally getting those braces off after three terrible years. Making a phone call and sending a real email. These moments marked achievements into adulthood. They taught me to challenge myself with trying new things. We live through these moments that seem meaningless to others when they hold a greater significance to ourselves. When we look back and reflect on our lives and at seventeen years old mine is awfully short, these moments seem to blend together into a continuous haze. Although I lived in these moments most of the things I experience will soon be forgotten. These moments determine who we are we can not chose just one moment to determine the true thing that defines our path into adulthood. Becoming an adult is millions of little things tied together. When I was a child being an adult meant going to work everyday, not being afraid to kill spiders, and being able to drive a real car. As a teenager being an adult meant setting the unnecessary curfew rules and being the one who can easily lend out money. But being an adult is so much more than that. Responsibility comes with maturity. How many responsible seventeen year olds have you met in your life? Being an adult means being able to make life decisions. No teenager is ready to make life decisions. Going to college is the hardest thing we have ever yet to attempt. The experiences I have lived through have helped shape my path and have gotten me ready to take the leap into college. The tiny moments that seemed almost silly at the time helped me grow into the strong determined person I am today. So have I lived
