“Who are you to judge the life I live?I know I'm not perfect-and I don't live to be-but before you start pointing fingers...make sure you hands are clean!”- Bob Marley
What do we do when we meet a new person? We judge! Judging people is human nature. However, when we do form opinions of others instantly, most of the time we end up being wrong.
Judging a person based on his/her external appearances can be totally misleading. Our appearance isn't what defines us Clothing isn't who we are. Just because someone wears all black doesn't mean they’re Goth or Emo. Just because someone wears glasses doesn’t mean they are a nerd. Deciding whether or not a person has value based on what they wear is ridiculous. Deciding whether or not a person has value based on physical characteristics or disabilities is equally ridiculous.
Words like “Nerd” and ”Fat” are just some of the slurs that are used to hurt others who are being judged by their appearances. My friend, Janey, who is beautiful and talented and one of the sweetest girls I know, has been in counseling for the past year. Why? Because she tried to kill herself last year when she just couldn’t take people calling her names anymore. Names like “Nerd” and “Fatso.” When will we learn that it doesn't matter what's on the outside only what's on the inside?
