She gladly accepted it and told me her name was Ines. “I came out to watch the high surf crashing on the beach sand but the wind is too strong and I cannot keep this stupid umbrella open”. “No worries, I’ll help you”. I opened her umbrella and held it for her while walked for a while along the beach. Every now and then Ines let out what seemed like a nervous laughter. She was charming and I thought that was a good sign.
Ines confided that she lived with Leonor, her widow aunt, a book and TV soap opera lover, whose ultimate wish was to have her autobiography written and Ines would type it.
In jest I proposed that we could team up and write the old lady’s memories. Days later I quit my city job and moved in with Ines and her aunt. I would dedicate myself full-time to write Leonor’s memoirs, for which she offered me quite an attractive sum of money.

Since her memory was vague I started to invent the story of an uninhibited woman that enjoyed a privileged life, the pleasures her body demanded that she satisfied with a parade of lovers who came and went through her life thanks to the fat wallet her husband provided her. I researched the customs of the period and the geography of the places Leonor told me she had lived in to make them coincide with each action and situation of the persona I was creating from my imagination.
Old Leonor left this world without seeing “her memoirs” published. Ines inherited the lady´s estate and money. Life with Ines was easy and more so with all that money and we were in love. However, things began to get complicated after she suggested that we should publish the more than 300 pages of my narrative that I had entitled “Uninhibited Traveller”.
