3. Differential theory Anomie theory:
It was first written in the 1940’s by Robert Merton. It explains that juvenile delinquency occurs because the juveniles do not have the means to make themselves happy. There goals are unattainable with legal means so they find unlawful means to meet their goals.
For example: A juvenile who had a goal to get a job and purchase the car. The juvenile does get the job to gain money. So he either steals the car or he steals the money to purchase the car.
