Juveniles Should Be Tried As Adults Essay
I don’t think that violent juveniles should be tried as adults. Because when they’re tried as adults they can get the death sentence or life in prison. It is unfair for even the most violent juvenile to have to spend the rest of his or her life in prison or even face death row. The idea of teenagers and younger children spending the rest of their lives in prison or go on to death row is saddening to most people who hear their cases ( When Kids Get Life).
Most cases of juvenile violence occur in troubled households or in abusive relationships. For example if the juvenile in question was abused mentally, physically, and or sexually then finally has had enough to snap and kill his parents (Jacob Ind; When Kids Get Life). Another example is the kid at school that everyone bullies and makes fun of where they then snap and you see the school shootings. Even though these kids committed murder you have to have some understanding or sympathy for them, because of what they had to go through before the crime they committed. I do believe that the juveniles should go to prison but I don’t think that lives in prison or the death penalty are appropriate sentences for juveniles. I don’t think that those are appropriate sentences because they then have no life to live even with life in prison they

I don’t think that a teenager or a younger child deserves the death sentence or a life sentence. Even if they do a violent crime I think that 30-50 years is sufficient for a case of juvenile murder like Jacob Ind from the video where his step father abused him physically and sexually for years before he finally snapped ( Jacob Ind ; When Kids Get Life). Even if the sentence is longer I don’t think that he would deserve the life sentence. He was just a teenager when sent to prison, and now he won’t know anything else but prison and how he murdered his mother and

Many people around the nation have different views on the subject of juvenile justice. Some believe that despite the children's age, they should still be tried as an adult if a serious crime is committed. On the other hand, some believe children should not be tried as adult even if they commit a rather serious crime. I firmly that these children should not be sentenced to life in prison despite the serious crime that they have committed and should have another shot at life when their brain is fully developed.…

Juveniles should be tried as adults depending on the level of the crime. Based on the information in , “On Punishment and Teen Killers ”, Jennifer Jenkins, explains how a teenager killed her younger sister ,which was pregnant with her first child, and her husband If the juvenile knew what they were doing they should be tried as an adult. Juveniles that commit huge crimes should face adult sentencing since they are responsible.…

“Five years ago juveniles were being tried for shoplifting, now we have murders, breaking out car windows … it all ties into gang activity. Six to eight months ago, a juvenile I represented said he wanted to be in a gang, so he robbed an elderly woman.” Juveniles should be convicted as adults for violent crimes because when they commit a crime and don't get caught or have any consequences after, they are basically walking around our streets with no one to notice they are criminals. If they did it once, they can do it again and get away with it. A crime is a crime no matter what the age of the criminal, they need to be punished.…

Did you know A child’s exposure to one type of violence increases the likelihood that the child will be exposed to other types of violence and exposed multiple times? Should everyone be tried fairly excluding age difference? A 14-year-old boy, Joshua Smith, shot his mother to death as she slept on the couch.Only because he wasn't allowed to hang with gangs and bring females over anymore.Joshua Smith wasn't tried as an adult because he was under age and they felt for him. So let’s say you were that child mother would you want your son to walk free over your death. Should children who commit violent crimes be tried as adults? Every 10.11 seconds a child commits a crime and every 1 out of 10 kids are tried as adults. I believe children who commit a violent crime should be tried as an adult due to the choices they make there should be no age limit.…

When it comes to sentencing a juvenile who has committed a murder or heinous crime it all depends on the circumstances. There was a Supreme Court ruling stating that juveniles could not be charged with life sentencing because they felt as if this was violating the Eighth Amendment on cruel and unusual punishment. Marjie Lundstrom, Paul Thompson, and Gail Garinger agree with the Supreme Court ruling of not giving life sentences to children, Lundstrom feels if they think a juvenile is old enough to be charged as an adult then maybe they should lower the voting age to fourteen and Garinger feels that when sentencing juveniles to life in prison they’re also being denied access to a better education and left lost and hopeless and Thompson feels…

Juveniles shouldn't get sentenced to life without parole for committing a crime at a young age. A punishment is necessary but, sentenced to life without parole at a young age is devastating. Why should they even continue to live? They are young and deserve a second chance to rehabilitate. All we do is just throw these kids in prison and forget about the. What these kids need is treatment especially, those raised in violet environments. Sometimes they grow up unaware of what's good or bad. It may not be there fault. I'm not stating that they don't deceive a punishment, what the need is a punishment but also the support of a person.…

Juveniles should not be let off easy because it increase that chances of it occurring again because they did not receive the punishment. The consequences of a juvenile's action should not be determined by race, ethnicity, gender and color of skin as well as economic status. We shouldn’t their enablers, we should let know and experience that every single action has it’s consequence. If teens can plan a murder confess it and not feel any remorse they should also be given the proper punishment and face time in prison. I do not think it is wrong, I believe that it is just to trial a juvenile as an…

There are multiple reasons that allow individuals to have their own opinions considering children and how they should be treated and tried in criminal cases. Many people today believe that teenagers should not be tried to mandatory life in prisons because their brains are not fully developed to make wise decisions which means they lack common sense. While others believe juveniles should be sentenced to mandatory life in prison because teenagers have plenty of common sense and at their age can identify right from wrong and are also aware of the consequences that they will encounter. I believe juveniles should not be tried to mandatory life in prison for their heinous crimes because they are still underdeveloped and are less mature compared to…

I don’t think there is one juvenile living that is ready to be in a prison environment, it’s not anything that you can train for and I am also concerned about if the juvenile will receive the proper medical and mental health services. But for a juvenile to be on death row is very disturbing. Juveniles are young and juveniles haven’t gotten a chance to explore and actually live their life so this is a sad scenario. I don’t think there is any crime even a homicide or armed robbery is worth putting a juvenile on death row. The judge should have some sympathy and issue out a split sentence before even considering death row for a juvenile. The famous quote “if you can’t do the time don’t do the crime” is very serious but I think the system should be lenient and have some sympathy for…

Although the Supreme Court ruled is as a “cruel and unusual punishment,” the sentence if fair because the convicted committed an act of murder that took away another person’s life. Such an example is Greg Ousley, who purposely murdered his parents and planned the murder days before he committed it (Greg Ousely Is Sorry, 9). Unlike previous scenarios mentioned, Ousley purposely planned for the murder of his parents. Despite the fact that he was still a teenager when he committed the murder, he had an intention to silence his parents and killed both of them in cold blood. This greatly differs from the previous convicted juveniles who accidentally killed their victims. Juveniles that have motives such as Ousley should be convicted as an adult and be sentenced a life in prison because, despite their age, they can think and act like an adult. Because of this, the Supreme Court’s decision of disallowing “teenagers” from “cruel and unusual punishments” should be overturned on certain cases, because, as seen in Ousely, some teenagers are capable and can plan murders beforehand. This not only reveals that certain teenagers can plan beforehand, but that they can think like adults in order to murder someone with…

Do you want a person who rapes, murders people or even acts extreme violence to hurt you or a loved one? There are families out there that lose a loved one to an adolescent just because they wanted to see what it's like to kill another human being. These families are the ones that suffer and can never get back what they lost. These teenagers do deserve a sentence of life without parole because they have committed such heinous crimes. I agree with the minority of the Supreme Court Justices who believe in mandatory life without parole because those adolescents broke the law, you must think about the victim’s family, and these teenagers killed another human being and planned to do so.…

Juveniles who commit first or second degree murder should not receive a mandatory sentence of life without parole. The majority of supreme court justices believes that it should not be mandatory to sentence juveniles to life without parole because violates the eighth amendment. The Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution states that excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. What's the point of the United States Constitution if its not being used in the supreme court system. Teens should not be charged with a life sentence because teens do not have the same rights as an adult and a teenager's brain is not fully developed until age twenty-nine, additional research has found that adult and teen brains work differently.…
