Effective Leader Essay On the island of Hawaii there was a warrior that changed the history of hawaii by becoming the first ruler of all the islands. His name is was Kamehameha. He was a very skilled person in almost all the ali’i subjects and he was kind and and wise person. Kamehameha had trouble growing up as a child because many people thought that he would kill all the chiefs because when his mother was pregnant she started craving for a tiger sharks eye. Luckily the prophecy was thrown out and later Kalaniopuu adopted him and raised him like his own son. Kamehameha was effective leader because he kept the kapu system and he took an active part in public works instead of just watching them. He also placed governors that were John Young
and Ka'eo Kulani because he knew that John Young was trustworthy and Ka'eo Kulani knew Kaua’i well.
Kamehameha was an effective leader because he took part in active public works such as working to rebuild his land by helping to make fish ponds, houses and planting taro.This showed that he cared for is land and his people.
It didn't really change or remained the same but he did change the war-torn land back to normal. It was a very good thing because the king showed that he cared for his land and his people. He also kept the kapu system and and it was a good decision because it is a really well balanced system and since Kamehameha was really smart, he knew that the kapu system will work out. It also made trading with foreigners fair because foreigners may just buy a lot and just throw away the rotten trees even through somebody else could've used it if he didn't have bought so much of the sandal wood. Another reason that shows that kamehameha was an effective leader is that he put governors on the islands that the king can completely trust. It was a smart idea because instead of the king going to the islands he can let his governors do the job for him. Also it was a good idea to put people he can completely trust like John Young or Keeaumoku because if he put a person that was just strong and wealthy he can probably try and plot to kill kamehameha. This changed after the unification. It was a good thing to the king because he had people that can do the jobs for him on a island that are really far
away. Kamehameha was an effective leader because he kept the kapu system and he took an active part in public works instead of just watching them. Kamehameha’s leadership skills affected the islands in a good way by keeping things and changing things so his war-torn land back to normal. He was able to achieve to maintain the peace while he was alive. If Kamehameha did not exist maybe the hawaiian islands might have just been under one ruler per island or maybe a different person could of unified the islands. He was also an effective leader because he cares about his land and his people by making laws and helping out instead of just explaining what to do. This was a very good idea because to actually help out because more people can trust him because of his kindness. If Kamehameha was not king the other king might have not lettered foreigner come to the Hawaiian islands.
