Kappa Blessing Persuasive Speech

c. To Kappa Kappa Gamma by the Fraternity President. If there is more than one course, the toasts are usually given after the first course. If there is only one course (e.g., a salad) the toasts follow the “Kappa Blessing.” The current Fraternity President introduces the toasters. If the Convention is in the U.S., the Canadian, as the guest, is introduced first. If in Canada, the U.S. delegate is first. The toaster rises and goes to the microphone. Each toaster may speak a few words and then say, “Ladies (and gentlemen), I ask you to rise and drink a toast to the president of the United States (to her gracious majesty, the queen).” After which, she lifts her glass, everyone rises and lifts their glasses, and drinks the toast. No clinking of glasses. It is correct to use water for toasts. All then
The second toaster is introduced and proceeds as above. Everyone is seated and then the meal continues. Sample Toast to the President Given by a Delegate of a Canadian Chapter “On behalf of my Kappa sisters in Canada, we are delighted to be celebrating the tradition of leadership with our sisters from throughout the United States. I would like you all to rise and join me in a toast to the president of the United States.” Sample Toast to the Queen Given by a Delegate of an American Chapter “It is my privilege today to speak on behalf of Kappa’s American chapters and to celebrate the bonds of friendship and mutual support that have united us with our Canadian Kappa sisters since 1911.
