Kappa Delta Leadership Essay
Why do you want to be a SET leader?
I want to be a SET leader so that I can help welcome in the new members and make sure that they understand everything Kappa Delta is, and has to offer. I’m so excited to meet the new PC and find out who they are. I know that it was hard as a Freshman to transition into college and learn how to balance everything, so I would love to help guide them into WSU as best as I can!
What qualities do you have that would make you a great SET leader? I have so many qualities to offer for a SET leader position. I am very energetic so I will be able to make sure that they are excited to learn about Kappa Delta. to confide in. I am also dedicated and care, which will help when planning different events of Kappa Delta and make sure they are done well.
What did you like best about the time that you were a new member? I loved having different white rose girls, it really helped me learn more about what Kappa Delta was as a whole and what it had to offer me.
They helped me with all my questions, made me feel like I had someone to talk to and always included me. Also, I really liked having the meetings with the SET leaders because it was place for me to learn and ask questions without feeling embarrassed in front of older members.
What is your most vivid memory of Bid Day? My most vivid memory of Bid Day was seeing all the excitement from the older members as I was running up to the house. I loved running home to CeCe, who recruited me. Even the people I hadn’t talked to during recruitment all hugged me with big smiles and welcomed me home. I didn’t feel out of place what-so-ever. Another thing that I remember most from Bid Day was that everyone was dressed up so much, it made it seemed like they really cared about us and wanted us to have as much fun as we could.
What ideas do you have for bid day? I have a lot of theme ideas that would be so cute for Kappa Delta. In order to make sure that the new members felt as welcome as I did, I would make sure that everyone is excited to dress up and give help give ideas for different outfits or ways to make bid day more exciting. I want to change up their “swag bags” a little this year to make the stuff more appealing to
them.
Is there a specific new member activity that you would like to organize? What ideas do you have for this activity? I would really be interested in organizing something for the new PC to get to know each other better. I really loved being able to go into the chapter room with all my sisters and bring something special. Everyone was so open and we really shared personal things that helped our PC bond, which is one of the reasons we are so, so close. I think it would be fun to do something like this in the very beginning of the year. Two activities that could be really fun for them is a big water balloon fight in Ruby Park or have a picnic at the park where they can all sit and talk to each other to build a better connection.
What other time commitments do you have during the new member period? List campus and chapter leadership positions. I would be able to fully focus on the new members during this time period. The only other commitments would be classes and mandatory Kappa Delta events. I don’t see any conflicts that would stop me from giving my all as a SET leader.
