In 1906, the first ever women's ice hockey tournament took place in Alberta with a six team league. Later on in 1912, Harriet Quimby was the first woman to ever pilot a plane across the english channel. Later on, many sport associations started to accept that women could play different sports and started working on improving the standards and giving them more options.
