Keeping up with the Kardashian’s
Personality Disorders Recently, Rolling Stone magazine wrote an article about the infamous Kardashian family. In this assessment, the writer was nothing short of mocking them and tore into the clan’s enormous egos and commitment to stupidity. Coming from a Kardashian fan, the article was vicious, but the writer pretty much hit the nail on the head. I admit it. I am a Kardashian fan. I often find myself checking out their latest news. I even spent one whole month last summer catching up on all 8 of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians seasons on Hulu Plus. The family has a genuine way of convincing you to be entertained by them, and I personally believe that is because they all share a specific personality disorder. I am definitely not a psychiatrist, nor do I believe I will ever be, but with the information I have gathered, I have seemed to successfully diagnosed the clan with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. This disorder is described as a mental disorder in which people have an exaggerated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorder believe that they're superior to others and have little regard for other people's feelings. If you have ever watched the show, this description defines the family perfectly. (DK, 2013) A symptom of a narcissistic personality is having a grand sense of self-importance, exaggerated talents, and expects to be recognized as superior without appropriate achievements. This makes plenty of sense considering that the family originally got famous for Kim’s sex tape. The only spoken talent they have is posing for cameras, yet, they think they have entitled a commendable achievement. A sex tape would be the last thing I would want to be famous. One thing you can notice about the family right away is their envy of each other. Ironically, another symptom of this disorder is often being envious of others
