Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Policy
A two hour media program was recorded on “Voice of Youth” at Pakistan Television (PTV) Center, Peshawar on November 13, 2012 in evening from 1700 hrs. till 1900 hrs. Audience, the youth, was invited from different colleges and universities and were 25 in total. The famous anchor of PTV, Mr. Taranjeet Singh started the show by highlighting the purpose of the program and introduced the guests. Panelists include Mr. Syed Jamal-Ud-Din Shah (Secretary, Youth Affairs, Sports, Archaeology & Tourism Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Mr. Syed Aqil Shah (Minister, Youth Affairs, Sports, Archaeology & Tourism Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Ms. Sabiha Shaheen (Executive Director, Bargad-Organization for youth Development) and Mr. Iqbal Haider Butt (Executive Consultant, Bargad-Organization for youth Development).
Current situation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was discussed by Mr. Jamal-Ud-Din Shah and Mr. Syed Aqil Shah. They highlighted, the national games that were recently arranged successfully and some events held in Swat and Charsadda. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will soon host another, six country, international wrestling competition as well. A discourse was initiated by Ms. Sabiha Shaheen and Mr. Iqbakl Haider Butt about the Youth Policy Draft. Different economic, political and social issues faced by youth were highlighted and possible approaches to the resolution of these issues were suggested. In the end, a short session of question answers was organized and audience shared their problems. Emphasize was the unemployment ratio, fewer scholarships opportunities and discrimination to elite class even in educational institutions.

In concluding remarks, efforts of Bargad team, for working on the youth policy was highly appreciated. Mr. Jamal-Ud-Din and Mr. Aqil Shah extended their wishes and full support for the development of youth policy and added this will be a great initiative for the development of our youth group and supportive in tackling their issues.
