Insufficient resources: A learning task usually requires resources such as pencils, paper, worksheets,, paint pots, paint brushes etc. If there are not enough resources for each pupil then the learning activity could be disrupted because someone would have to leave the room to collect more resources, which wastes valuable learning time. One way to prevent this from happening is by collecting enough resources for the day to go around. During the VARK questionnaire that I took I scored an 11 on visual, aural, and read/write. The topic that I scored highest on was Kinesthetic and I scored a 12 on it. Kinesthetic is a learning tool that is hands-on approach. People that are kinesthetic are easily distracted by the activity that is going on. The difficult approach towards it would be sitting still for an amount of time, such as a lecture. I believe that Kinesthetic is a perfect fit for me because I believe that I do better when I’m doing hands-on. It is also hard for me to sit in class for a long time because I get bored just listening to the teacher talk for an hour or longer, but I do still take notes in lectures because I’m used to bulletpoints while sitting in a lecture.…

The student described in the reading exhibits at-risk behaviors. One at-risk behavior is that the student is constantly daydreaming. It has been observed that during lectures and class discussions the student is often unfocused. Instead of paying attention and taking notes or raising his hand and participating, the student stares off into space or out windows. The student is often missing out on valuable information that is discussed during these lessons. Many questions that are gone over during discussions will appear on tests and quizzes. Combined with this was instruction about adult learning styles, how to recognize a trainee’s particular style, and how to engage and accommodate auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners. I was able to participate in numerous self-assessment exercises and learned that at times I was more of a visual learner, but other times I preferred a more hands-on approach. I believed that most people would benefit from having all three of the major learning styles incorporated into their training. As a result, I adapted the facilitator’s manual so that each section of the training contained a built-in lesson that supported each learning style.
