You may be being called to start a new life. In this case Katie Davis was being called by God to start a new life, helping underprivileged kids in Uganda. Although she knew with all her heart she wanted to this, the sacrifices were tough. When Katie arrived at Uganda I believed she underestimated the amount of deprivation and poverty there. At times she did not know if she could do it. She states, “ My life became a balancing act. On one side, I was running a small nonprofit organization and needed amounts of money that seemed unfathomable to me. On the other side, I was learning how to be a real mother , even if my motherhood was unconventional.” Here we see the struggles she has throughout trying to raise money to send kids to school and trying to learn to be a mother for some children who never really understood love. Then later she goes on to say, “ It was as though magical floodgates of provision were opened, within a few months we had the $70,000 dollars we needed and then some.” This shows through the struggle of having to get money for the school.
