All throughout the novel, Hollow City , Ransom Riggs, a very talented author, uses detailed dialogue and description to build character. He does this with all of the important characters and even some of the smaller characters. The way he builds characters varies from the way he makes the character pronounce words to the actions each character does. Jacob is definitely the main character of the book, and he has quite a bit of description about him. On page 74, Jacob and his friends are running away from a hollow, and he is forced to use his secret powers, which allow him to communicate with hollows. During this he…

I think that this was an unfortunate thing that happened to this young boy and I wish that someone would have gotten him help before it was too late. I think that Jacob should have received a life sentence without parole because he chose to murder his mother and step-father and he was old enough to know right from wrong. I feel like he should’ve reached out and tried to get help at school. Jacob’s brother, Charles speculated that he thought his mother knew what was happening, so for Jacob to take her life without knowing if she was aware of the situation makes me lean more towards him deserving to be in jail. I know Jacob must have been angry and that because of his anger he killed them both, but I do not think Jacob had a reason to kill his mother, due to Charles statement resembling…

Esau is described as already having a mass of red hair on his body, a description that alludes to him being more of a working man, which in turn explains why Isaac favors him more, because he “was fond of game” (Gen. 25:28). While there is no description of how Jacob looked when he was born there is a symbolic moment where Jacob is born gripping onto Esau’s heel. This action could suggest that even at his earliest age Jacob is always trying to hinder Esau’s success and good fortune for being the elder son. Jacob is described as a quieter man than his brother, and may have also hid his intellectual superiority over his…

“How far will you go for Jacob?” (196). In Defending Jacob, by William Landay, Andy Barber is faced with an enigma: his son, Jacob, has been accused of murder and it is up to him to help prove Jacob innocent. As Jacob’s father, Andy took actions to help defend his son no matter what the cost was. This led me to think the purpose of the book was to depict that, during tough times family is needed and they will sacrifice anything to help you.…

The greatest challenge for health care is for the Elderly. The elderly population has been rising steadily for the past few decades. The elderly population is usually defined as people aged 65 years or above. However, a longer life span in the elderly population brings along poorer health. This involves an increased demand for health care services for elderly people. About two-thirds of the elderly population has limited or no monthly income and this generation will have to bear the burden of financing the provision of health care services for the elderly. Long-term care services for the elderly represent a significant share of total health care spending and an area of increasing concern for legislatures.…
