After a few months of juggling both, physically not feeling well enough to do my job and effectively complete assignments, I requested to reduce my hours. However, the ward manager disagreed with my decision and after collecting feedback from staff I was told that I’m doing a good job even though I feel worn out. Working within the environment and gaining this valuable experience will make my assignments somewhat easier to do as I can relate them to my practice. Taking my managers advice, I have remained at doing 22.5 hours and dedicating any spare time towards my …show more content…
If this situation was to arise again, I’d be more time effective with my days off. I would not leave my job for university or the other way around, overtime I’ve developed a routine. It’s been hard as I like to work to my highest standard at everything that I do.
Conclusion and development
After reflecting on this situation, my job has really helped me when doing assignments as I have practical knowledge as to how medical professionals work effectively. I would develop more on my communication skills when working with professionals that I haven’t worked with in the past. Model used for this reflective piece is Kolb’s learning cycle (McLeod, 2013).
Doing reflective work has me to think of what I could develop on for the benefit of my patients as well as myself. This process will carry on as I hope to remain in employment and my interpersonal skills will continue to improve with patients and professionals.
