The weaknesses for these businesses are the same. Both of these businesses have been in the sports and recreation market for a while, so the negatives they have are extremely similar. The only time where these businesses would have different weaknesses is the negative experience perhaps a customer or employee had at LA or GoodLife Fitness. Both of these facilities face very similar issues. These two gyms have way more members than they can actually accommodate. If everyone who had a gym membership showed up at the gym, it would be total chaos. Gyms have big issues with retention, and most lose around half their members every year. Once we realize that we haven't been going to the gym, consumers feel the membership price per month can feel like too much. While some clubs offer pay as needed basis, most operate on monthly, or quarterly membership’s rates. Others require long term contracts involving a year or more. Aside from membership fee, If you take a personal trainer, most likely there will be an additional charge. Some staff could be pushy as well, trying to get you to sign without fully divulging the terms of the contract. Once you sign, you may have a hard time getting out of it. Some gym staff demands patrons to renew, renew, renew. But, you cannot blame them; these businesses are out to make money. What is the point of having a business that does not generate profit? Consumers argue it is too busy. Waiting for the treadmill, lining up for the shower, all of these minor annoyances can add up until your quick trips to the gym, ending up for no return. A next disadvantage is that not all exercises can be done at the gym. Exercises like jogging, swimming and cycling or cross-fit style training such as flipping tires or rope climbing can’t be done at most gyms.
Both clubs have competitive markets because of the location and the demographics...
