Laboratory Report: Observing Bacteria

Purpose: Is to gain knowledge on how to use a microscope and oil immersion lens while observing prepared bacterial slides and also to prepare slides for observable bacteria culture from yogart.

Procedure:

Exercise 1: Using the Microscope - Viewing Prepared Slides I started out by reading and reviewed the science lab safety reinforcement Agreement and the instruction to oil immersion lens. After setting up my lab station I view the six prepared slides with 10x and 40x objctives lens. In each slide the differences was magnification and the 40x lans gave a clearer look of the specimen. The observation of slide e was the mirror image when viewed throughthe micoscope. After observations of the six prepared slides. Then I took out oil immersion len. I observed what great amount of magnification and clarity. the slides was highly focused and easy the view individual cells.

Exercise 2: Observing Bacteria Cultures in Yogurt I prepared a teaspoon of yogurt in a cup and placed it inside my closet for 12 to24 hours. Then I viewed the prepared yogurt slide.

b. Resolution: Is the ability of the lens system to show fine details of the object being observed.
c. Contrast: (Color) Degree of lightness/darkness part of something. Can be flipped depending on the color of the specimen.
