Happy Trails’ management team and many organizations today are challenged to providing a positive work environment, one were the employees contribute to budgeting decisions, and work processes. The threat of unionization is present, when management fails to respond to employee concerns of working conditions, unfair or discriminating practices. The Happy Trails management team is taking a pro-active approach toward unionization efforts, a strategy to remain non-unionized. The most critical steps an organization can take to combat the threat of unionization are to set-up meetings with employees during company time, at the Happy Trails facility. This would create an open and informative forum for employees to have their questions and concerns addressed while helping to identify any challenging issues the employees may have. Additionally it enables the organization to discuss their position and unionization. Another option available for the management team is to send literature to the employee’s home, stating the organization’s position.
