Lakmishi In Patricia Mccormick's Book Sold
INTRODUCTION “Heroism is endurance for one moment more.” This quote by George F. Kennan describes a key character in the book Sold, created by Patricia McCormick. The character I'm referring to is Lakmishi, our protagonist in Patricia McCormick’s book Sold, and she goes through very traumatizing experiences but lives up to her endurance. She is a 13 year old girl who is sold into prostitution in an abusive patriarchal society who is dehumanized in many terrible ways. Lakamashi teaches the reader how to be able to prevail over suffering through the acts of rebellion, endurance, and imagination.
