It is so important that students not only be able to recognize and read the words they are seeing, but to also have the ability to write grammatically correct sentences, paragraphs, etc. Students will not just encounter writing tasks during their time with us as a learning community, but will encounter these situations all through their lives. Whether it be writing reports or business transactions on the job or drafting a letter to someone of higher power and authority, like the President of the United States or a letter to an administrator of a hospital. Thus, writing is an essential element of language arts that needs to be taught in isolation, but to a certain extent. For students in the primary grade levels, writing should be taught solely in an isolated setting. This will again allow teachers to give students individualized attention to help them improve their writing skills. Once students reach the intermediate grade levels and beyond, writing should be integrated throughout the curriculum. With this being said, integrated writing beyond the primary grade levels will allow students to experience the important of writing further and to students will be able to focus and learn of the importance writing has in other areas besides language arts. These three areas go hand in hand with each other and build each builds upon the others. Without one, the others may seem useless. It is important that students have these foundational skills to become better prepared for their lives that wait for them. By being able to receive one-on-one attention from teachers in each of these areas, students will most likely become more successful in knowing that there are people out there that believe in them and are willing to help each of them become a successful member of society. Having these fundamental skills will also help ensure a student obtains the success in the career field of his or her
