The two pieces of art called Las meninas by Picasso and Velázquez are two great pieces of art. The original one by Diego Velázquez was made in 1656 and Pablo Picasso made his rendition of Velázquez art in 1957. They also represent some same and different aspects that mean many things. The two pictures are similar in many ways. They both have the same name and were painted by famous people. The two pictures were also about a princess and had one in the picture. They also portray a meaning through art. Velázquez portrayed that there was many people waiting to help the princess that is why he named the painting “The ladies in waiting”. There were princesses incorporated into the picture because the painting was about the people helping the princess. There are a lot of ways that the pictures are different. The painting were in a different style of painting. Velázquez made his( the original) as a self portrait and a picture of the princess. He made it look like everyone was happy and calm. Picasso made his in his famous cubism style of art. They both also made their picture for different reasons. I believe that the reason Velázquez made his version was because the royal family of Spain at the time wanted a picture of the princess and they wanted Velázquez to do it because he was their royal painter. Picasso I think wanted to make his own unique painting that resembled something from his past. Velázquez also made himself incorporated into his own picture as self portrait and a royal painting. In Picasso's picture the girl is huge compared to the one in Velázquez work, there are also less people and only two people are in the entire picture. Also in Picasso’s work the colors are strange to be doing a picture of a person with. He makes the have of the princess green, black, blue, and red facial colors, whereas Velázquez made his in realistic colors and tried to

Both use a lot of white throughout in the marble structures and clouds of the paintings. The people in both of the paintings are wearing more vivid colors such as blues, greens, reds, and yellows. Also is both paintings the light blue sky is seen in the background and the brightens up the picture. Both pictures are also fairly symmetrical because if someone was to divide the painting vertically in half both sides would have roughly the same amount of people on each side and has symmetrical architecture on either side. One side is not favored over another and are equally busy.…

Some of the most obvious of differences would be the types of environments each painter is displaying. In Francesca’s painting it portrays a middle – upper class couple posing for a nice family portrait by the country side, with green fields and flowers. . While Lawerence’s painting is portraying almost the exact opposite. Lawerence’s painting displays a very busy street in a village in Nigeria with people performing their day to day choirs and conducting business as normal.…

Painted in Paris during the summer of 1907, Picasso had created hundreds of sketches and studies in preparation for the final work. He long acknowledged the importance of Spanish art and Iberian sculpture as influences on the painting. The work is believed by critics to be influenced by African tribal masks and the art of Oceania, although Picasso denied the connection; many art historians remain skeptical about his denials. Several experts maintain that, at the very least, Picasso visited the Musée d'Ethnographie du Trocadéro (known today as Musée de l'Homme) in the spring of 1907 where he saw and was unconsciously influenced by African and Tribal art several months before completing Demoiselles.[5][6] Some critics argue that the painting was a reaction to Henri Matisse's Le bonheur de vivre and Blue Nude.…

The first similarity between the two paintings is the noticeable roughness in the application of paint on both. The brush strokes are visible and everything is not perfectly smoothed as it may have been before the impressionist era. In Cezanne's painting, the brushstrokes are thick and short, applying a heavy layer of paint that can be noticed even on a picture. Gauguin's painting on the other hand, contrasts with thinly applied paint. Here, in most places the paint is smoother and forms flatter swaths of color.…

Both of the paintings have similar characteristics in the style of dress. According to the National Gallery of Art, “the woman in the Bronzino painting is a noblewoman and most likely a member of the court of Cosimo I de’Medici, Duke of Florence in the mid 16th century.” The woman wears an elaborately embroidered chemise, which extends above the neckline of the red brocade gown. Her gown has a wide square neckline and the sleeves have wide puffs near the shoulders and are fitted from the elbow to the wrist. The bodice of the gown is rigid and the skirt is full. She has a Turban headdress, which is influenced by the Turkish headdress and a popular style during this time. Also, in her left hand she holds a pair of gloves that are perfumed. All of the distinct garment characteristics shown in “A Young Woman and Her Little Boy” are present in the “Portrait of a Lady in…
