The Notebook By: Nicholas Sparks
Today I will be talking to you about a famous movie and novel The Notebook. It is an achingly tender story about the enduring power of love and a story that will make you believe in miracles. Like a puzzle within a puzzle, the story of Noah and Allie is just the beginning. As it unfolds, their tale amazingly becomes something different, with much higher stakes. The result is a deeply moving portrait of love itself, the tender moments and the important changes in their relationship affect us all. Shining with a beauty that is rarely found in current literature, The Notebook establishes Nicholas Sparks as a classic storyteller with a unique insight into love itself.
The novel begins with Duke reading to an older woman, whose memory is slipping from her more and more every day. Duke reads the story of two young lovers named Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun, who meet one evening at a carnival. They are soon separated by Allie's parents who disapprove of Noah's un-wealthy family, and move Allie away. After waiting for Noah to write her for several years, Allie meets and gets engaged to a handsome young soldier named Lon. Allie then sees Noah in the newspaper and with her love for Noah still alive, stops by Noah's 200-year-old home that he restored for her to check if “he’s okay”. It is evident that they still have feelings for each other, and Allie has to choose between her fiancé and her first love.
In the novel "The Notebook" Noah is a boy of lower income and Allie is from a wealthy family who vacations in Noah's town. The first conflict is the difference between the two future lover's classes. Noah is not considered an appropriate mate for Allie. Through the story, Noah and Allie were good partners and they were happy; but Allie’s parents disapproved of their relationship whereas Noah’s dad had already thought of Allie as his

And today in the wide world of Literature, well maybe just short stories, we will be going over Rick Moody's "Boys" and Jamaica Kincaid's "Girl" and discerning the way in which Moody chose to make his story very quick paced to the reader and in a way difficult to read, but with a purpose. Also how that affects the way the reader may read, perceive, or understand the story in a different way. And comparing how the similar writing style of Kincaid compares to Moody's use.…

He incorporates numerous personal comments and anecdotes associated with the topics, which reminds the reader that even him, being a famous celebrity, goes through the same struggles as everyone else, making the book especially more relatable. Examples of this tone are evident throughout the entirety of the text, for instance, he says, “Nowadays the Internet is my chubby friend. It is the whole world’s chubby friend.” (page 126).…

Different meanings reverberate beyond the single storyline through a series of independent yet interrelated stories. The focus lies on the marginalised members of society rather than the empowered elite, and the collaboration of their stories is brought together in a very unstructured way, the resulting discursive nature of the novel confronts readers, challenges preconceptions of narrative form and adds to the novel¡¯s textual integrity as an accurate reflection on human nature and life, to further ensure their relevance resonates through all generations.…

Escaping from the reality, Margaret Laurence utilizes the short story “Horses of the Night” to establish the struggle Chris had between his imagination and the reality of his own world. The battles he had among himself demonstrates that sometimes life creates an illusion to allow people to explore through the wrong ideas. Vanessa’s perspective of Chris going through his life in Manawaka, and living in Shallow Creek had a big differentiality. He remodeled his real life situations into his dreams, which examines that people’s purposes in life are more difficult when they have their eyes open. Facing the real world is crucial. That is why Chris chose to live through his fantasy rather than getting treated by his reality.…

Since the last time I journaled, I have started reading the book An Invisible Thread by Laura Schroff and Alex Tresniowski and am currently on page 137. This book is a true story written from Laura’s point of view about the relationship that formed between her and Maurice. They met while Laura was walking to work one morning; Maurice was a homeless, eleven year old panhandler who asked her for money one day. Instead of giving him money, Laura decided to take him out to lunch. They continued to meet every week after this and ended up becoming great friends. While reading this book, I have been observing the major conflicts, Maurice’s life at home, Laura’s childhood, and the relationship between Maurice and Laura.…

From the day we are born we are faced with challenges. Some may require more effort than others, which in turn acquire memorable achievements and goals. The challenge of coming to terms with the effects of our actions towards loved ones and our future as a result of selfishness is a key theme which has caught my eye through a few texts I have been introduced to this year. Such challenges are seen through the narrator's story in Big World by Tim Burton and Cell One by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Key comparisons made included the similarities shared by the main characters, and how they both evolve around a teenage boy who is somewhat lost and needs guidance from his parents or mother. I also discussed the similarity they share which makes them appear more fortunate than others they are involved with in society. I also contrasted the difference in where the stories are set and how this differentiates their backgrounds, and how the pair faced their different challenges.…
