Leadership Self Analysis
I know most of the people in this class are MBA students looking to move up in their company. I am slightly different. I am working towards qualifying to sit for the CPA exam, so I’m not pursuing a specific degree but taking classes to reach the number of credit hours I need to meet the requirements. I am not currently in a management position, but there is an opportunity for me to advance in my career to a management position. I do not have any experience in management, so I hope to fulfill two goals at one time, fill my CPA requirements and learn more about my management potential.
I am quite new to the leadership portion of my career, so I believe that I don’t really have much experience in traditional leadership. I have just recently been given the opportunity to mentor someone who may become a direct report. By learning more about my leadership and personality style, I would hope that I will be well prepared to transition more smoothly into a traditional leadership position. I used the Myers-Briggs personal style inventory, “What’s Your Decision Making Style”, Leader Member Exchange and Big Five Inventory to take account of myself. I hope to learn more about myself so I can be a better mentor and manager in my current role and in any future role I could mature into.
According to the Myers-Briggs Personal Style Inventory, I am a J, which says that I like everything organized, on time and in its place. It seems a little obsessive compulsive but it also sounds a lot like me. I also expect those same things from other people and get frustrated when those expectations are not met. My full Myers-Briggs personality is ESTJ, which is Extraverted Sensing Thinking Judging. According to www.personalitypages.com, “ESTJs are take-charge people. They have such a clear vision of the way that things should be, that they naturally step into leadership roles. They are self-confident and aggressive. They are extremely talented at devising systems and plans

    The company I currently work for is Henry Ford Health Systems West Bloomfield MI. And the President is Lynn Torossian. Lynn has only been with our company since December of 2013. Lynn has several leadership styles that have made a positive impact on me. One of the leadership styles that Lynn uses is Participative also known as democratic leadership style. While Lynn has the authority to make the final decision for the company she still values the input of the team members, peers and fellow employees of the hospital.
