I am quite new to the leadership portion of my career, so I believe that I don’t really have much experience in traditional leadership. I have just recently been given the opportunity to mentor someone who may become a direct report. By learning more about my leadership and personality style, I would hope that I will be well prepared to transition more smoothly into a traditional leadership position. I used the Myers-Briggs personal style inventory, “What’s Your Decision Making Style”, Leader Member Exchange and Big Five Inventory to take account of myself. I hope to learn more about myself so I can be a better mentor and manager in my current role and in any future role I could mature into.
According to the Myers-Briggs Personal Style Inventory, I am a J, which says that I like everything organized, on time and in its place. It seems a little obsessive compulsive but it also sounds a lot like me. I also expect those same things from other people and get frustrated when those expectations are not met.
