Rule 1: Life is not fair – get used to it!
Rule 2: The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called itopportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time. (and can I add, on your own dime)
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.
1. “I have never in my life learned anything from any man who agreed with me.” - Dudley Field Malone
2. “If the facts don’t fit the theory, change the facts.” - Albert Einstein
3. “The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.” - Bill Copeland

There has been a debate regarding whether struggling students should repeat a grade. Proponents point out that grade retention gives another chance for the student in trouble to “get it right” the second time. On the other hand, opponents argue that the harms retention bring outweigh the benefits. Though there are valid arguments on both sides of this issue, those who disagree with grade retention policy have a strong case for the following reasons:…

The school rules were displayed throughout he classroom while I was on practical experience and it was evident that the teacher was respected in the classroom. The rules were short and brief “Rules that are expressed with a series of ‘don’t” instructions do not actually describe the correct behaviour you want to see (Evertson and Emmer. 2009)” but more or less act as warnings or signals to the students. The teacher had at the beginning of the year had extensive discussion on the class rules and expectations. “Rules should be reasonable – discuss the reasons the reasons for the rules with the students explain why consequences for the rules apply” (Evertson and Emmer. 2009).…

Socrates believed that people do not think for themselves he also believe that if an individual cannot “think” that person is not open for others to question his/hers thoughts. The outcome of this dilemma in Socrates mind is “life is not worth living”. According to our presentational lectures “Philosophy” is a critical examination of our thoughts “Critical thinking”. If we cannot think our way through life, then life has no meaning, and it is not worth living. I believe Socrates quote is true, what purpose are we pursuing in life? If any at all, Socrates carefully chooses the word “unexamined” our lecture teaches us that philosophy is a critical examination of our basic beliefs concerning reality. In my opinion reality is life; therefore we must ask ourselves the question, what is life? Speaking from a philosophical point of view, I believe life has no meaning, if we do not know who we are or what our purpose in life is.…

“This is the day,” I said to myself mentally as I looked upon a computer screen. “I’m going to need to know sooner or later,” as I hovered the mouse over the ‘Final Grades’ tab before quickly Putting over the exit button. It had been two weeks since the grades had been posted for my spring classes, and I could not gather my nerves to look them up online. I knew that I had done well enough throughout the semester, but I was afraid of unknowingly bombing the final test. Deciding that I was being ridiculous after another week had passed, I gathered my nerves, and clicked the link that said “Final Grades” on my computer screen. I stared intensely at the page when my mind begins to discern the letter grades to be…A, B, A, A, A. I breathed a sigh of relief as I felt an enormous pressure lift of my chest, a vast difference to the last time I was in a similar situation.…

It is any authors dream to be published. They have written their work, and think that it is the best they can do. However, when it comes time for them to publish what they have done, many authors find that publishers do not print everything that comes across their desks. Most of what an author tries to get into print is rejected, especially new authors. This group has an even more difficult time getting work laid out onto paper because they as writers are unknown, with book companies wishing to release works from more well-known authors as the public knows the older writers are good and do not want to spend money on some ones work that they have never heard of. In order to become published a new writer should…
