The film All Quiet on the Western Front took us on an experience of many German teenagers on the adventure of fighting in the World War I. World War I was the tragic conflict that causes the rumbling of peace to joining the fight. Whether the crisis in Europe started the war or assassination of the great leaders were the significant part of the causes of the World War I. And the war causes heavy damage and heavy casualties during the battle. All Quiet on the Western Front gave me an idea of how difficult was fighting in the World War I and fits into the world conflict.…
The lessons learned and the contrast in the background of the characters is what makes this journey so intriguing. A child’s upbringing and the relationships they build help develop the foundation of who they are as a person. Lin begins…
As, both the novel and the film of , A Lesson Before Dying the theme coming of age is portrayed. Though, each narrative portrays the theme of coming of age in its own way. As in the novel character development is used to signify such change. Rather than in the movie where film techniques are used. As scenes are elaborated and cut in the film the coming of age point is portrayed strongly in some scene’s rather than…

The story “The Chocolate War” is a great story that teaches a truth that teenagers experience in their lives. The story was first a book then later adapted in to a movie. The ending and moral of the book and movie are both very different. The story talks about a young boy named Jerry that is having a hard time going through his freshman year because of a secret society named The Vigils and a teacher named Brother Leon. The moral of the book is that it is best not to muddle with how the universe works. However, the moral of the movie is do what you believe is right and don’t give up, you will eventually change the world or in this case your school. The book might seem more realistic, but a person would get nowhere in life if they did not dream or try.…

We all grow up after a while. It’s just a part of life and maturing. This book is all about kids maturing and learning life lessons to learn more of the world and the way society works. They find it hard at first and don’t understand certain things and why people act the way they do. Sometimes, they will go to investigate something they saw and that can either give them clarity or give them more questions. A lot of the time these investigations have consequences as well but I guess that’s how kids learn what is good and what isn’t.…
When it comes to the topic of torture, most of us will readily agree that torturing someone in order to get information is not the answer. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of how guilty a person is, and what should be done in the case of a bombing. On the one hand, people argue that torture is unconstitutional and should not be practiced because it questions a person’s morality and what they are willing to do in order to get results. On the other hand, however, others argue that we should allow torture because it is more just than allowing thousands of innocents to die because we didn’t want to question a single person. I have mixed feelings on the topic. While I recognize that our actions may be for the greater good, we cannot allow ourselves to lose our morality because of it. I do not believe that a person should be tortured for information unless it is under specific circumstances. What I mean by this is that people should not torture someone unless that person is obviously guilty or it is…

There is a profound essence of self sacrifice, beliefs, and symbolic patterns within the plot. As I evaluated the film, I found that it definitely had several moral statements that would “persuade us to apply the principles in our own lives.” (Boggs & Petrie, p 17) I perceived this to be a concept of, stay true to your beliefs, humanity, and moral obligations. I also found the overall film along with the characters to incorporate social problems and the truth of human nature. “Because those characters are representative of humanity in general, they serve as a cinematic vehicle to illustrate some widely or universal acceptable truth about human nature”. (Boggs & Petrie, p…
